Summary of Post-CU Commando:
What We Know So Far

Commando will become a master of ranged offense. The commando will be defined by his or her ability to take the specials from whateve rother class it has and use them with his heavy weapons. This means we can do kip up shot with a rocket launcher. Likewise, our flamethrower tree will power-up these specials, adding a fire DoT, AoE, and added damage effect to pretty much any ranged special you have. The commando tree does not haev any inherent special attacks. That's because...

Our weapons now have built in special abilties. As well, our disposable weapons will no longer be disposable. You can shoot a rocket launcher 500 times now and will not lose it. A lot of our weapons will be heavily focused on AoE, but we have gotten (at the moment) the cert for a proton rifle, which the commando community hopes is its long awaited assault rifle. We also now have a cert for a knuckler and our melee is a little bit better.

So in summary:
The commando will ne the special forces of ranged weaponry, taking the specials of other classes and using them the way they were meant to be used. Our defense will be low compared to some classes, but it is still hgiher than it has been. Overall, the commando will be undeniably influenced in a positive way by the CURB.

So... We dont get any inherant abilities, only certs. So does a flamethrower use Rifle techs? Does the Launcher Pistol do Pistol ones? What weapons are capable of doing what? As well as this, our guns have built in abilities? Will our weapons we have now change? Or will we need to buy new ones to get the new strengths. Also, if we have no specials, how do we use our DOT? Proton Rifle does cold damage I heard, so, does it only use Rifle techs?


Let me ask this as a total overall for the ones above pretty much.. Can commandos do Pistol/Rifle/Carbine attacks with ANY of their guns? Meaning a commando flamer can do pistoleer attacks? What type of knuckler? Can you detail that?

All specials are now set into basically two categories: ranged and melee. So yes, you can use rifle specials with your flamethrower, or use pistol specials with a HAR. You cna find out what special abilities eahc weapon has by surfing a bit more on the commando forums, 'cuz I don't have em memorized, lol. It's kinda general tho, like Imperial Detonators now have a chance of KD to targets w/in its blast radius, the HAR automatically has a chance to blind the target, cryoban grenades can either ensnare targets or slow them down, etc. All current flamethrowers will be changed to the master-certed Plasma Flamethrower, and a regular flamer will be at the tier three box, like it was before.


Also, the flamethrowers' automatic attack is a cone-attack, much like flamecone1 or 2. So that means you can take a non-area attack--say, overchargeshot--and turn it into a powerful area attack that also adds on a powerful DoT. So regardless of the ranged route you take, you'll gain specials that will make your character unique to the commando profession itself. The knuckler we have is called the Massassi knuckler, and it uses melee specials (der ). It's kinda an incentive for those who have already gotten to commando to try out TKA, and they'd have a pretty sweet weapon to grind it out with.

We do have "innate" abilities...but they're built into our weapons...AoE, Dots, state effects, etc

All except the Massassi Knuckler, LP, and (I presume) the Proton Rifle take Hvy Weapon Mods...things haven't been changed yet with experience on the MK, and theres still a possibility that the proton rifle will take hvy weapon mods...and/or the LP/PR will be converted to do so. Point is, thats still up in the air for now...

Yeh, it pretty much sums it all up.

If i had a flame thrower, every shot that i fire would include an area cone and a potential fire dot, automatically.

If I used the rapid fire special from marksman carbines branch, it would take the same shot from above but also add the rapid fire shot to it. So now the rapid fire special also has a area cone and a potential fire dot.

This prinicple works with all our heavy weapons, and any specials from most professions

Can someone give me the wrapup on what will happen to our great profession after the CU? Just a quick overview.
