Thread: AoE attack with AoE weapon?

What happens when you use an AoE attack (ex Fan Shot) with an AoE weapon (flame thrower).


I guess the more general question is, when I use a combat special with a flame thrower, does the special only affect the target or everything in the cone?


If it affects everything in the cone, then StrafeShot2 just became the 1 hit wonder.

Ex:

3 mobs attack me, I use Strafe2 with a flame thrower. The flameThrower hit all 3 people. Each person then gets the Strafe2 effects. Each strafe2 effect hits the people arround it.

This means that each person gets hit with effectively 3 hits.
3 hits at 4x damage can get pretty nasty. couple that with firing every 2-3seconds and you have a instant street sweeper.


My guess is that the Dev set the effect to only be on the target. Everyone else just gets the weapon's base damage. Otherwise, the cries of nerf will be heard throughout the land

I asked this question the other day. i didnt really get a definate answer myself. I heard that commando weapons work with other professions specials, but when I asked about AOE specials I got "Commando weapons wont work with other professions specials"

All combat specials from other professions can be used with all heavy weapons.

We have said this many times in many posts before.

Exactly how StrafeShot2 (if its still in the CU) works with the Flame Thower is yet to be tested.

I believe that if you used StafeShot2 with the flamer, then you would get the StrifeShot2 effect added to the Flamers area cone and DoT and heavy damage.

I already use the carbines RapidFire and OverCharge specials with the rocket launcher and Heavy beam cannon.

Plus our Heavy Weapons already have AoE effects built into them, so basically every special we use with them...becomes AoE, and in most cases, DoT/State effective.

Will a Charge shot's KD effect (0-0-1-0 Carbineer special) stack with the RL's KD effect? Probably not, but the RL will enhance the damage and produce an AoE effect along with the innate KD effect already in place.

That is, unless if varying weapons or specials have varying degrees of the KD effect...like the RL has a 15 sec KD (making this figure up), but an improved Charge Shot has a 20 sec KD effect...will the improved KD effect be dished out opposed to the RL base KD effect? I don't know yet...but it may very well be!

No, you can only throw grenades


Specials only work with equiped weapons, and u dont equip grenades.

im sorry buti have to disagree on this point we can not use ALL the combat specials, ill provide an example to show you what i mean.



under carbineer if you look there is a full autofire attack if you read it closely it says the weapon must have automatic capablity, therefore a flamer would not do a fullautofire attack, nor would a RL.


some of the moves state what kind of weapon can do this shot, some how i doubt we can do a sniper move with a acid cannon but a kneecap shot can be done.



this is mearly a speculation based off of what little information trickels down to us and what i have seen so far, so dont take it to heart till its live.
