I'm asking this question here becuase it's the most reliable place to get information. Can anyone tell me how the skill relocation will work when the CU goes live? Will I be able to relocate all skill points i've gained? Only the skill points in my elite/hybrid professions? Will the relocation even happen at all?
I'm currently Master Commando, will be Master Pistoleer before CU, and 0/0/1/0 Medic. When the CU goes live i'm looking to be Master Commando, Master Marksman, Master Pistoleer and Smuggler 0/0/3/0 (which will leave me with 0 skill points). I'm wondering if that 15 skill points in medic will be valid in the relocation.

I think I heard it is just the combat skills. So say, if you are an Artisan, you won't get to.

To quote Dallas Dickinson of SOE:
"The combat upgrade will be free of charge to every single player and the content will be available through download. Once the combat upgrade is live, all players will have the opportunity to reallocate all of their character’s skills to take advantage of the new enhanced system. "
ALL players will be able to reallocate ALL their character's skill points.

You are free to relocate any USED combat skill point to and from the following professions:
Marksmen, Medic, Brawler, Scout, Riflemen, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Commando, Pikeman, Swordsman, Fencer, Jedi, TKA, Doctor, Combat Medic.
EG: If i was a TKM before the CU, i'd only have UA4. The new pre-req post CU says I need UA4 and 1 Handed. So I can move skill points from marksman to 1 Handed so I can keep TKM, even though i've never had 1 Handed before.
Be aware though that this is a ONE TIME thing. You cant do a bit, then comback later to do some more. Once you do it then its done and gone.

The following profession trees will be modified by adding and removing new special abilities to bring them in line with the new system: Marksmen, Medic, Brawler, Scout, Riflemen, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Commando, Pikeman, Swordsman, Fencer, Jedi, TKA, Doctor, Combat Medic.
Players that have skill boxes in one of these affected professions will be allowed a skill re-spec for their character. This does not include the force sensitive skills.
That comes from the head CU honcho himself, Blair. Sounds good to me.

What I've heard is that it's not set in stone how they'll be doing it yet. They might allow players to change around their skills at will for a week or so, then cap it afterwards, or maybe just respec twice, total. Thing is, no one knows for certain.
I'd also like to know hard fact on whether or not I'll be able to respec ALL of my skills or not. One of the prereqs for MBH (which I plan to combine with commando - the stats look like they'll be INSANE) is Scout Exploration 4, which is not a combat skill...and is something I don't have, currently.

I'm pretty sure everyone does, but I can't give a 100% yes yet. We're working on a character respec guide that we will have available, and we will have solid information for you by the time that is finished.

The short answer is that we do not really know. The devs do not speak as lawyers do, so when they use words like "all" it doesn't mean anything.
If you have skill points devioted to non-combat skills then there is a risk that those won't be convertible. Further is you are a Master Dancer/Master Entertainer/Master Image Designer and you dump 30 skill points into Novice Marksman and Novice Brawler...those 30 skill points may not convert 1:1.
Your best best is either to grind as many actual combat skils as you can now...or alternately to grind them after the CU comes. There is no magic about grinding now rather than later...it's not even clear which would be more fun.
