Thread: Pros and Cons about Commando
1: What is commando like in PvE and PvP?- I am really good at pve, like untouchable. I have soloed countless kryats,GDK, and other things. Um pvp, you can be decent but it really depends on the opponent. If they have ever fought a tkm, commando before, you will probably lose. But if you can get a massive burn, dizzy/kd warcry stuff goin, you will probably win, unless they are a doc or cm.
2: What do you recommend of the Teras Kasi and Pistoleer supplement to Commando?- I havent done pistoleer, but post CU I am gonna go commando suplement probably. I loved pistoleers, and would give it a shot again, but I dont have time to regrind before the CU. Not really worth it although if you could get master pistoleer some BH, and Commando Flames, you could be hitting some massive ass bleeds. I love TKM MC, but as the poster above stated, it will all change soon.
3: Why are they the mosy used proffesions in a Commando template?- IDK what you mean. If you mean why are pistoleer MC, and TKM MC, used a lot is because of A)they want to effectivly use the launcher pistol, or B) the unarmed prereq doesnt give us much room to maunever, so to effictivly use skill points you gotta get it.
4: How does a Teras Kasi Commando Combat?(example: KD dizzy whip out flamethrower)-I like it. It can be effective.
5: Is it hard to find good wepons? possible
6: How happy are with being a Commando? I love commando and will never give it up.
7: Is there something i haven't mentioned here that i should know? -COMMANDOS KICK A$$, and the commando forum is probably the only flame free forum here.

Good choice to go commando.
I think fellow commandos are being reserved about the pros and cons due to the impending CU. Everything will change, so the pros and cons will change in 4 weeks.

No one can tell what's going to happen between now and live release of the CU. So much stuff is broken on TC atm that it is really difficult to get a feel for what commando is gonna be like.
If you plan on a commando build Post-CU, I would STONGLY suggest picking up a ranged elite to complement it, based off of what I have seen so far. CU-wise, I really dont see melee/ranged combos being a good balance.
Coot.

Beside that i have some questions:

Okay, I think enough people on here have described that post-CU Commando will be vastly different than pre-CU Commando. So, I will only post what life is like pre-CU Commando, because I tried a lot of the things you suggested. Again, thishas only4.5 more weeks of life left.
1:PvE, we are gods. A Master Commando can put DoT burns on anything (even ones that have 100% heat resistance). There is always the possiblity of stacking DoTs (or even stacking DoTs with more than one FT)...but I don't want to say anything about it...we don't talk about that here, shhhhhhh. Throw in the Launcher Pistol with some good Pistoleer mods and you have a great way to do damage to a wide variety of creatures. As for PvP, well, the lack of defense and low speed to our weapons in the profession makes it tough. Anyone with Composite armor is gonna be able to withstand a lot of your big gun's damage, and still be smiling at you. Jedi not having armor, only inate toughness, makes them fear Commandos, but again, the lack of defense and the dreaded saberblock still make it hard for a Commando to be good in PvP. Not saying we are useless, nor that you "couldn't" PvP with a Commando, but being a Commando will not make you 'TeH UbaR'.
2: I highly recommend TKM and 3-0-0-0 Pistoleer. Gives you some specials with the Launcher Pistol & Dodge modifiers. Then having a TKM for melee damage, tanking capabilites, and some of the only defense you will have. A great use on higher end MOBs is Burn DoTs with the FT, then Bleeds with the Launcher Pistol, followed by state changing and overall defense by going unarmed. I am sure others have better templates, but this is the route I went for a while, it worked great.
3: If you mean why TK and Pistoleer are the most used template with Commando, well, TK obviously because we already have Unarmed IV, and it's great defense. Pistoleer because of the use of Pistol specials with the Launcher Pistol, as described above. The skill point requirement for Commando almost forces you down those two routes.
4:Usually one of two things. If you are fighting an NPC or PC, start off unarmed (NOT holding the VK, cause of the time penalty to switch weapons), do your KD/Dizzy combo, then equip the FT, and go nuts. The NPC/PC on their back takes much more damage when lying down. Supposedly Jedi can still saberblock just as wellwhile on the ground as standing, I don't know, I have never been able to get close enough to knock a Jedi down
Now. if you fighting a higher end MOB (like a Krayt or something), then you take the opposite approach. First start off with your FT equipped, lay your burns down, then un-equip the FT and tank it out unarmed, again don't equip the VK, the time penalty is just too high(making use of Intimidate and Warcry are musts), once burns go away, re-equip FT, lay down burns, lather, rinse, repeat.
5: Hard to find a FT or a Launcher Pistol? No. Lots of WS make them, and you can find them in all sorts of quality levels, from grinding to Krayt Tissue/Spider Fang quality. However, our "other" weapons (like our Consumeable) are much, much harder to find a steady supply of. I am not getting into Grenades, because the mere mention of them right now irks me. So, the weapons you will use a bulk of the time pre-CU Commando are easy to find, the other stuff will be very hard to find. Lack of demand and cost of resources deems this so.
6:FUC* YEAH! The first time you blow something to little bits is one of the greatest feelings in this game. Most of the people who are current Commandos do it because it is a sh!tload of fun to play. Plain and simple. It feeds the inner-pyromaniac in all of us.
7: Yeah, come May 5th, everything I just said to you becomes a lie ![]()

Great that im getting answers to my questions, but one thing i would really like to know isif they cando anything special except from blowing things up like no other proffesion.
