I am fairly sure it is, however if someone else knows of another weapon that can be used to get your first box tell me.

There is nothing like trying to kill CL 63 creatures with a CL 14 weapon. Even with my best specials it takes forever, and naturally if I kill things too low I'll just get 1xp.

It is annoying you can't damage two tightly grouped mobs yet can aggroPITA grey crap well out of your weapon's stated range in another camp,

I do love the pyro effects though.

That's a thought. I don't think I can afford all the scout boxes for BH though. Thats fifteen for scout pluspoints for all of exploration.(fourteen more)*sigh* Well I am half way done with what I need toget my first box. Guess I can suck it up and push through.

Guess I'd say if you want to start Commando do it when you are low CL or have BH, as you suggest.

Launcher Pistol is all that there is, IIRC.

What you need to do is get into a group, but warn them before hand of the Launcher Pistol... it has an AOE attack. Many people HATE that.

Until you can use a higher level Commando weapon, if you want XPs at a good-excellent rate, you will be COMPLETELY group dependent. The LP just doesn't put out anything useful, especially since it's a low level weapon with pathetic damage. Remember, in group fighting, all you need is ONE successful hit, whether you do 99999999 pts of damage or just 1. You will get the full XPs your character can get at that level. Once you know you get your hit(s), halt your fire to prevent the risk of aggro'ing more than the group wants or can't handle. It helps to have no Default Attack selected for group grinding purposes as a newbie Commando.

Of course, take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm no longer a Commando.

Edit to add: I just now remembered a different Novice Commando weapon. The Corellian Destroyer, Cert. at Novice Commando, but is a CL 30 weapon.

I am CL 63 and have Novice Commandonow so I can usethe CL 30 . I will have to look about for this weapon. I am going to drop dancer and flesh out Commando so I will be Master Smuggler|Master Commando|Rifleman 4xx4. Advanced Aim gives me plus 250 accuracy for three shots and is a nice skill in a pinch. That will jump my heavy weapons acc up to 490 and my rifle acc to 520.

Wait until you try Adv.Aim with Sniper Shot. OWWWW!

I do not know the traits of the Corellian Destroyer, but they can be easily found on Bazaar/Vendor searches. Blast radius, cone, etc., I'm not sure. This weapon gets very little to no mention even on the Commando forum. The quality fluctuates real badly, but maybe because it gets no respect as a little known Novice weapon.

Right now my dancer template with a base 215 accuracy and 90speed with a rifle when I power up with Adv aim I hit for 3k with sniper shot, 1.7k with head shot and 9.5k with Last Ditch. Those numbers are before armor adjustments. Once I grind Commando my base will be 270 acc to start and a speed of 115 with a rifle. Of course all that will help Commando weapons hit harder too. I am up to CL 64 now. The rifle I have now only has a max of 980 and I got it for 10k so that's not so bad.

When I am grinding XP I just pull with ranged shot at 65m with my rifle then switch to a Commando weapon when the creature/mob is isolated and in the clear. They are both in my toolbar.

Is there any way to make the launcher pistol a viable weapon to use? For the pyro and explosions ... it does nada for damage....

Thats true
The launcher pistol is very small on the damage side.
But the AE is useful in some scenarios.
Im a Master Smuggler right now together with Novice Commando and im able to root an entire basket full of aggro mobs with one shot.

But the point is that you have to rely on a second profession to make any difference with this gun.

I am currently a Master Commando/BH 3/3/1/1. I took BH after the respec because the TKA combo I was working on proved to be impossible to gain xp for. All those guys running around with 2 elite professions mastered did so BEFORE the CU. No one has mastered anything since then. I know this because I've seen them around since day 1 of launch of this game. My problem is that I don't have a lot of time to play, so I didn't master that 2nd profession before CU. (dropped a lot of professions and skills I didn't like) Now it's impossible. You'll have a hard time finding lvl 63 creatures now if your lucky at all. I haven't found one since CU and I keep asking people too. They are either lower and give no xp, or they are higher. They've made it way too hard for us to advance now and I quit the game over it because I can't get anywhere. Yes, BH does cost too much to combo with Commando, but you may be able to do it if you drop your Marksman skills and just go with the Commando requirements. The two would make a very nice blend of general bonuses for both ranged and melee, good defense for ranged and melee, Allow use of Unarmed combat with high enough bonuses to win frequently, pistols, carbines, rifles, heavy weapons, grenades, tracking droids, probe droids, bomb droids, ranged specials that stack with Commando, and melee specials. It s a very cool combo if you can make it work. As for mastering it, good luck.

Why do none of you go to Dantooine Mining Outpost or Lok and get in a group? I know that from CL 70-80 I was constantly grouping with 2-3 others from CL 70-80 and the rest of the group was 20-60 usually. Experience does not work like it used to (amount of damage to target = exp), you get max experience for each kill as long as you hit the mob once. Just be careful with aggro, as CL 30-60's die pretty quick to CL82 Bols. Honestly, since marksman no longer gives warning shot and such, I think this is the only way I would grind HW exp again.

Edit: And you will make a heck of alot more money doing team mish's for CL80's than your measly 2k missions now.

No. Alot have a radius of 6. The Acid Stream Launcher and Flame thrower have conical AoE's. Actually if you aim the Acid Launcher right, you can hit an entire army that is all spread out with it too.
