I've been with SWG since beta. I don't post much because that's not my style but I do lurk - A LOT. When I do post I tend to get verbose, you've been warned.

That said. Yes there are things that I consider broken. I've been a Master Commando for a while and I feel I have a pretty good grasp on it, not as good as Maddog or Garvin perhaps, and I would like to see things changed. I do NOT intend to quit and go to another game either, at least until I'm tired with the space expansion!

I understand all the complaints and I can agree with most of them. I'm not here to rant about 'em.

Having worked in service (God how I hate stuck up whining customers sometimes!) there is more than one point of view. For obvious reasons they can't come out and tell everyone to shut the heck up and chill. They also probably can't come out and tell everyone all the changes (they might not know, things might change at the last minute or they might not want to unbalance the game in some way).

Let's look at the Devs for a second. People like you and me (except their job is WAY cooler). They have a lot of stress to deal with. Suits from Sony who probably need an appointment with a executive class nail studded cluebat and customers who want everything fixed NOW and get quite rude about it. Suits probably want the space expansion pretty bad because they want more $$ to buy a new car with and they probably have stock holders hounding THEM.

Thunderheart and the rest are basically good guys judging by their posts, but they are people who, I have no doubt, get sick and tired of all the negativity, the whiners, the complainers the children who keep saying "If they don't fix it I quit!" or "I'm quiting now, bye all". They have to deal with it every single stinking day. You can't please everyone and everyone has their own view of how things should work. The complainers are usually the loudest. It gets old very fast, especially when you can't seem to move fast enough to satisfy. Lets see YOU and your friends write a game to compete with SWG!

The Devs each have a preference. Some might like commando's, some might like flitten' fairies, I mean, er, dancers. They are allowed to have an opinion. Let them have it. I would hate any profession that calls me bad names on a regular basis. Now if they really hate commandos then I might have to introduce them to some of my Marine buddies. . . .

Back to the subject. I've been to all the different forums and everyone seems to think their profession is broken in some way shape or form. Everyone is complaining about something. (I dare you to find a forum where everyone says "Wow everything works, this is the greatest profession in the game!").

Yes we are paying customers, we are paying for a product. Some of us have more than one account too. We have a right to a good product and they are working on it!! I doubt it is their fault they pushed it out the door so soon. It is hard to test sometimes so yes, things slip out of the test center (which is your fault for not being there to test it!). It is hard to see the impact of every little change you make until one person in a thousand finds a way to exploit that and unbalance the game.

I won't say shut up and stop whining (I know there ARE 12 year olds who get on these forums of course), but I will ask that if you are going to post you might consider being a little more positive and constructive. Act like professionals and I bet you will probably get a much better response. For every negative remark put some positive, ie "The flame thrower rocks but something really needs to be done about the HAR, here is what I think is broken and why it doesn't measure up to my beloved flame thrower:"

They have a LOT on their plate, with the space expansion, regular patches, upcoming combat patch, new content, profession fixes, world balancing, bug fixes, events, etc. I doubt they employ battalions of programmers, and if they did then there would NEVER be frequent patches or fixes because of all the QA.

COAIII actually made me think during the quest. Can't just fry anything that moves or go with the stock answers. Pick wrong and Mr. Blaster is inspecting your nasal passage.

That said, Devs keep up the good work, some of us do appreciate the work you are doing and understand the pressure you are under. I have faith in you. You've accomplished a great deal and I only expect it to get better. I couldn't believe it the first time I saw a scantily clad female dancer in a Cantina. Wooo hooo. Hubba hubba. (No, I don't get out much, okay?).

That's my 2 cents worth.

Thank you for reading one of my shorter posts , and may The Force be with You!

5-stars for you sir!

The real problem is ( this is my impression ) is that people get bitter from being ignored from the start. I dont think people started hounding the devs the instant people went commando. Im very sure people posted a lot of good posts and doable ways to fix it and not unbalance the combat in pvp and pve...

Sure, devs most likely responded, but words only go so far. For months people give you pat answers and nothing changes, and you pay for it; reasoning and mental stability get thrown out the window like an old 284 that can run spreadsheats! And with the addition with them saying they wont respond to anything negative makes some peoples veins in thier brain pop. When no one says something will change in the future, you cannot expect more than 50% posts being positive. The more a blind eye is turned, the more negative things get. Its a vicious cycle.

All we want is at least a general post of this:

Okay guys, we know your borked outa the wazzoo, so your geting this in a few months or whenever,

1) HAR will be fixed

2) heavy weapons wont miss as much

then the publish after that we will fix another thing if theres enough time

Just once i wanted to see something of this nature. Just ONCE. Link me a page where a dev said that. I would love to see it. At the very least say were being worked on. It all rounds up to the general train of thought that they arent working on us and have no care. Remaining proffesion and positive is like telling Bush not to say "Terrorists" and "Madman" more han 20 times in his speaches.

On a lighter note, in the mist of all the turmoil, JustG came through and actualy acknowledges us and our problem, and is , to me, the only person on our side.

JustG is right now my hero.. for now lol

I wouldn't say that it's an immediate need for a fix that drives people to quit a given profession. I kept up with the carbineer profession for six months and that one has it's quirks. What I think it might be is that you go a certain path and even throughout all the broken stuff your having fun. Then its the broken stuff that begins to nag on you.

I'll go with what I know here and site a carbineer example. Ham requirements are what ultimately led me to leave that profession. Sure DPS is a little lower than what I expected, and CS 1 was handy to have (although I never spammed it like some did). I found carbineer to be a very flexible profession that allowed me to go anywhere on the battlefield and be effective. It was ultimately the need to reheal myself every five or so shots just to contiue to fight (gets expensive on stims). It was the need to pause every 10 min to allow the negative effects of muon to pass. It was watching my ham drop as fast as the person I was dueling. It was the need to look for things like tatooine sunburn, breath of heaven, buff's, and muon on a constant basis that drove me away. I was a master carbineer for five months. I had been playing a carbineer pretty much since launch. Yeah I know. Took me a while to make master marksman the first time around. But after making marksman and evaluating the weapons. I went with carbines.

The commandos that are leaving now (alot of them masters) are going through the same thing. There have been serious problems with this profession. That is what they know is this profession. They don't know the entire game at large. They can't. But what they do know is that their given profession has been broken for a very long time. And what they see is what I saw as a carbineer. A profession that was by and large ignored except for when it came time for nerfs (yea what do I know about that carbineer hasn't had that many, we are that borked). And all they got were cryptic messages telling them to wait cause something better was coming down the pike. But it wasn't until Just-G came on and said something other than what TH had wrote that these people had heard something. That was a long time between pauses.

Im going commando cause I must be a masochist. I hope that the next publish changes alot of things for commando and carbineer cause I hate pistols. They look cool and all but they just don't do it for me in the game. Defenses be damned. And I plan on going master in commando. If this profession gets the fixes it needs, then I could have a whole lotta fun with a combination of the two. But it comes down to people getting tired of dealing with the same problems and not seeing any solutions in the forseeable future.

And your right. I wouldn't want to be a developer to save my life. Those guys have got to deal with our flack and their bosses.
