the best way-turn back while you still can, commando is very very broken. But if you insist go to dath, join an enraged rancor group, and spam specials to advance is ranged skills and for unarmed join a sharnaff hunting group in coronet.Dont forget to get buffed, especially for unarmed.

It depends on what u want in commando, anything more than 0040 is worthless. For unarmed I got buffed and went to dantooine and did 6 or 7 quenker missions, got unarmed 1-4 in 76 minutes. For marksman I did the same but this took me about 5 hours to master. Make sure in marksman u use the best possible weapons u can.Good luck.

But I get the feeling they don't care.

I did the unarmed branch the hard way when I was going for tkm, by punching EVERYTHING unbuffed and no armour, took quite some time Second time around though I got buffed, put on my wookiee armour and headed for the lost village on Talus and started smacking Sludge Panthers, worked a treat.

People will give you all kinds of ways to do based on how they did it fast. It boils down to this though. Get buffed (get kinetic resist armor such as ubese when you can afford it too) and kill stuff that you otherwise can't. You will get much more xp and level much faster. Oh yeah, get the best weapon you can use of course for marksman and use a Vibro Knuckler for unarmed even though you are not certified, you will still do much more damage because you will hit faster.

You probably do not need buffs for the first 2 boxes in any branch since you can get it pretty fast by killing everything you see around town.

I also recommend using pistols when you are working towards the 40k combat xp. This will give novice pistoleer plus a skill box or 2. HealthShot2 will help with the Launcher Pistol you have to use till you get your Flamer going.
