Thread: From BH to Commando. Good idea ?

Hello,
I am currently Bounty hunter (2/4/4/4 and some points in pistoleer), and considered droping it to try commando. (Note that I am not doing any kind of holo grinding). I was curious to know what other people who would have done the same tought of commando, or if they now regret it.
As a BH, I have access to a quite wide choice of attacks, and some friends told me I would get bored with commando since it was basicely "set mobs on fire and wait". How is the dps different too ? I am looking for a class that is able to deal heavy and fast range damage (don't like melee) in PVE mainly. Commando sounded appealing, and seemed easyer to reach than rifleman since I could bank heavy weapon xp and keep some skills (at least at start) with LLC. What are your thoughts ?

Somehow, the devs had the brilliant idea as to give every heavy weapon thier own mod.
So you wont start with any extra skills with the flamethrower, or acid rifle. Youll have heavy weapons xp... but that would be it.
The dps... laughable at best in pvp. As for pve, we have our moments I assure you. But I wont lie to you and say we are effective when it comes to pvp against anything with armor + buffs to the most basic of levels ( 55 base armor and not even the best buffs money can buy would effectively stop you
Heres my advice to you. Take novice commando. Then dont touch anything else in the commando tree. Take advantage of our LP and get a good slice for dmg with 33% power up - you should get some realy good stats. The LP can be argued as the best non loot pistol in the game. If it had AP1, it would be best non loot with no doubt at all. But the ap0 can hinder its abilities sometimes. If you take the techniques tree from pistoleer, youll get stoping shot. Stoping shot + LP @ 404dmg = death en mass. ( Try to hit speed cap , then get an lp. Youll ravage just about anyone )
So basicly, dont go up commando because you will be sorely disapointed as Im so sorry to say but the truth kinda hurts. Take the LP and lay waste to those who oppose you.

I dropped all of my commando skills except the flamethrower line to try out Bounty Hunter last night. Commando profession is pretty fun. I just wanted something different. YOu should try it out.

I just recently dropped BH for Commando and I'm having a blast.(no pun) I just love it. Course when the thrill of the BIG BOOM wears off who know's.
So far as I can tell right now. I kick a$$ and take names in PvE. Lol C'mon mobs swarm me...please
Played around some with PvP last night and had a tough time, tho I am a noob to this. I think Commando is best suited to PvP in a support asspect. Seems about right to me. I mean how hard should it be to hit a heavly armed and armoured Commando? I think I'll just hang back with the Doc's and CM's and protect them, if anyone gets close enough to them I'll light em up or blast their a$$. So close combat support is the best I can see out of Commando so far in PvP.
But as I said I'm a noob to it.
