For entertainment value I bought the new prima guide today and they listed a novice commando weapon called a "corerllian destroyer". Any know of this?

It's a CL30 Novice Commando weapon.
Easily purchased from bazaars and vendors.
Stats aren't great, but it reaches out to 64m and has the 6m radius like the Beam Weapons of Commando.
It's a better weapon for Novice Commandos who have other CL-related skillboxes as they transition into Commando more fully.

Kkowir forest on Kashyyyk. If you ever attempted the arena quest you were there, or if you went to myyydril caves you likely passed through/next to their village.

Looted off Kerritamba if you want to pick one up for free. I got a few as I did the unwanted...umm... banished... ummm...outcast quests.

I personally wouldn't bother going on a quest for one.
You can buy it for pretty cheap at the bazaar or off of vendors.

I totally understand this and I didn't want to come off like this was the wrong way of doing it.
My apologies if you felt this was implied in my previous post.
Some people are just really broke, either because they are new to the game still, never really had
credits or spent all they had on a set of armor now that they cost a fortune.
Others, and that is more likely, just like to know how to get their own loot and don't mind doing
new quests they didn't try before (not that a quest is necessary to kill Kerritambas, it's just the
reason I had to kill some of them).
Just getting one off the vendor/bazaar is however probably the easiest way. Even if going to
Kashyyk and killing about 5 Kerritambas (about likely to loot one off them by then) shouldn't
take more than 15 minutes either.

No problems, it's just the typical situation is this:
By the time a player gets to an elite combat profession, they at least have a decent amount of credits.
The Corellian Destroyer can be bought cheap. If you stay in groups as much as possible, that Corellian Destroyer (or Launcher Pistol) can last you until you get your Master Commando box. You don't need other Commando weapons until Master.
Remember, XPs is based on CL level of your opposition and the CL of your character. It is no longer based on damage output as it was in the Pre-CU SWG. For instance, if I was CL 70 and was starting to change over to Commando, I can only do maybe 100-200 pts of damage with the Corellian Destroyer. However, since I'm CL 70 attacking CL78-82 MOBs, I rake in huge amounts of XPs still.
