Well I've been thinking about this alot since with my build i can only have one of the commando trees. The flamer (and the acid rifle once it fixed) really have the edge from what I can see. For the first part the comsumable weapons are varied but they cost you around 10k a pop for around 25-30 uses plus their accuracy stops around 50-60% and they have a 5 second delay between shots plus they can only be used at long range effectively.

Now while that means you can start combat with a bang, within 5 seconds the enemy has either moved into close range or they have returned fire and you can't really do anything while you're lining up the second shot. So on the whole consumables should only be used on something that is gonna die from one hit, doesn't have allies to avenge them and is far away.

On the film side you have the incinerator and acid rifle. Both can operate from long range (64m) with reasonable accuracy plus they only get more accurate the closer the target gets plus their specials cause a hell of alot more damage than the consumables once the target is within 15m. Plus they cause a steady stream of damage. Add to that the fact they'll last alot longer than the consumable weapons and I'd say they do have the edge. Once they fix the acid rifle hopefully it'll be more viable than the incinerator which at the moment trumps it in every way.

So the fact is that comsumable weapons are ideal for supporting a group who can keep the attention away from you (hence it's heavy 'support' weaponry) however the others are designed for various combat roles.

The heavy weapons are a great suppliment in pvp fights and would be a fine addition to any pvp ranged template. If however, you are looking for somthing to use as a primary weapon go with the flame thower all the way.

i have found that if ur looking for some thin in pvp go with the hw line the flamer is useless in pvp uless in 16m were apbc u some one ---- will kill him good and fast {i dont even equip my flamthrower any more in pvp most of the time i keep my vibs equped i get 10x batter defenc this way} and i have a tone of choises to use ensted of just 2 lol

but if ur looking for some thin in pve go flamer hw seem to miss 50% more of the time when out of pvp and it cost to much to use as a primary wep

Your overall best bet is to get to level 4 of both trees. This way you can use the flame most of the time and switch to the HWs when the situation calls for is.

Right now granades suck and so does the acid rifle.

The heavy weapons are varied in both ranges and damage types. For example the RL is great at 48m-64m. The HPBC is good at 48m, the LBC (lightning beam cannon) is good at 32m and the Acid Stream Launcher is good at 16m-0m.

The Acid Stream Launcher is medium armor pierce but has no radius, the lightning beam cannon has light armor pierce and 6m radius, the partical cannon and rocket launcher both have heavy armor pierce and 6m radius. The Heavy weapons line has the most varied set of weapons but the closer ranged weapons are less accurate then the flamethrower because of their higher armor pierceing. These weapons are left hand weapons which means they won't be good as your primary attacks. However they work great for adding TO your offense, aswell as supporting your team.
