Currently I am a Surgeon / Novice Commando and for Commando I have 28 beyond Novice that I can spend. I was think Flamethrower 4 and Heavy Weapons Support 3. Is Heavy Weapons Support a waste and going to Flamethrower 4 too much? Could I better allocate skill points? Thanks.

I can't believe someone asks for advice and no one responds. Not once, but twice. You all would rather talk about how you might be nerfed then to actually help someone out with some advice. Oh and I meant to say "I New Nnd Need Some Advice" instead of "New Some Advice".

I didn't see your post until now...though I couldn't get on the boards much yesterday.

In terms of pure offensive power Flame IV is the way to go. The Flamer is reasonably fast, does excellent damage and is way less expensive per shot than the charged-heavy weapons used un the heavy weapons support line.

If nothing else, FlameSingle2 (which you get at Flame IV) is probably the most highly used Commando move (by those who have it) and almost doubles the effectiveness of FlameSingle1

The Heavy Weapons Support line gives you option, though. It lets you to very good damage (typically better than Flame Single 1, and probably FlameSingle2 against armoroed opponents--and three of the four weapons do damage in an area of effect around the target to boot) and do Blast, Energy and Acid damage (though Heavy Weapons Support III...at HWS IV you would also have gotten electricity) and they allow you to do all this damage from a reasonable distance.

Sorry, one more thing...as of yesterday the Flame Thrower is a "rifle" which m,eans melee opponents will do 2.5 times their normal damage to you while you hold it...which makes Heavy Weapons Support all the more attractive. Because of the Flame DoT, and the relatively low cost, though, I doubt that will alter Flame IV's position as favorite commando skill box.
