Thread: HPBCs how much damage are you doing with them and when are you using them?
I just got Heavy Weapons I and purchased my first Heavy Particle Beam Cannon yesterday. Then I had to log before I could test it out. I'm really excited about the damage rating and the AP of Heavy, however at 600+ credits per shot I was wondering what kind of damage people are actually getting when they shoot this thing, and what situations are they using them in?
I use HWs all the time, mostly on non-social high CL creatures. They work very well with PvP too.

I too just got Hvy Weapons I and bought my first HPBC the other night. I didnt watch the specific damage I did, but I can tell you this... THEY ROCK! I was on Talus and setup against a Torur Bull (the size of a large house roughly) and knelt about 55m away. I lined up the shot and pulled the trigger...
...I killed the thing in one hit! I couldn't believe it! My friend I was with was floored, and so was I! I absolutely love the thing! I cant wait to max out this skill tree, this is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for in Commando. I may even drop Rifleman and simply use my Heavy Weapons as my sniper weapons... They snipe better than my T-21...

I use them a lot. I have several from different vendors. The lower quality do a minimum of 3.7K of damage, I can't explain it based on the stats but thats what they do. The higher ones (i have) do a min of 4.3K. Now these mins are on creatures. I've gone on BH missions with a friend and hit one NPC mob for 10K (yes no BS) of damage in one shot. I assumed he must have had no protection.
Hope this helps. I have noticed that you really need to be at ideal for a good shot at hitting.
I currently carry a minimal amount of RLs and several HPBCs. Honestly I love the HPBC due to its being moderately accurate at approx 50m and doing good damage. I have not used any since the patch however since I don't want to waste them with armor and armor piercing being all FUBAR.
Just wait till you get Hvy weapons IV, HPBCs are currently the best hvy weapons...id take one over an RL anyday, acid streamers are a close second, with RL's coming in third
they're cheaper than RLs which is nice as well, and from my mws i can hit nearly the same amount as i do with RL - with hvy ap, however without the blast (oh well, got my lp dont I?)
personally i get em for 10k per 30 charges, i suggest go find a very good mws that has same low prices as well
