Thread: Dabbling and the Force Slot

Before this goes anywhere...I don't have any issues with Dabblers...technically we are all dabblers since we use our extra skill pts left over in other professions...

With that being said...anyone read the news on the Force Slots today? Last I read (from the Jedi Profession Forum) there are new Holocrons in the game that are suppose to give you personal clues on getting ont he path to unlocking your force sensitive slot...The first clue is that you have to be a Master of an Elite profession before you will get another clue...The new Holocrons only put you on the path...they do not unlock the slot...

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=78258

People who found them on the Test Server posted what they were told...an Artisan was told he would receive more information when he became a Master Dancer...so in essence, we could be told anything...if you're in the Marksman tree like all of us, we could be told that we have to be a Master Rifleman before we get the next clue...or, hopefully it will anaylize the what we already have and since we are working on Commando, tell us we have to be a Master Commando...who knows...but one thing that is obvious, this may seriously limit comando dabbling...

Another thought...if you got a holocron and it tells you that to get on the path you have to become a master pistoleer (for example) would you give up Master Commando to do it?

More theories out there are saying that the elite profession you have to master is completely random and not based on what you've already started...of course those again are just rumors...

Maybe the dabblers will have an advantage here...I for one have earned tons of Medical xp that I never used...which would be benificial if the holocron said I had to become a master doctor...lol

The details will come in tomorrow with the patch and the live servers getting the new Holocrons.

It's really sad to me that part of opening the slot is mastering a class that gets randomly picked when you create your character.

Lame.

Definitely explains Thunderhearts reaction when told the formula as he said it was surprising.

At least it will give me some comfort I'm dismantling my master commando for a reason other than it blows monkey chunks.

If it tells me to master weaponsmith I'm just not going to bother, that's the most rediculous grind in the world....

I'll do anything except for a crafting profession..... I couldn't stand there endlessly grinding. Bh would be a tough call as well.... Don't know about that pesky investigation line if I could do it.

Just make it like Homer in that leprosy episode.

"Sure Lisa, I'll do the chore when I pull it out of the hat AND it's not a practice."

So if you get an ID Holo, just say "Umm. SoE, that was a practice.", and all will be well.

Personally, opening my FSCS maybe the ONLY thing I'd give up master commando for, but that said... if these things are dropped by meatlumps like some are suggesting... I may just start a new character, slay meatlumps by the hundreds, and actually know at the start where i need to go....

Oh and if i did give up master commando... once i'd opened my FSCS I'd definitely be getting it back

You know... after really thinking about it, it could be a LOT worse than pulling an ID holo. First off, you might pull aBio Engineer Holo, which has one of the crappiest craft grinds in the game, not to mention Sampling. What's worse? You could pull a Bounty Hunter Holo.... then be subjected to weeks upon weeks of grinding investigation *Gack!*.
