Thread: Give me one valid argument why 2.5 mele damage needs to be in PvE
This will be my last post on this mele nerf unitl the devs either fix it or they nerf me again.
I have read through multiple posts which are for the most part complaints from all sides. Commandos are complaining to not have the 2.5 mele multiplier and Mele fighters are saying we should. Are Commandos crying too much, maybe. I know I have exagerated to get my point accrossbut in my defense I wastrying to also make jokes. Can I solo things now as well as I did before, absolutly - if you count having a Graul Mauler do your biding. I think the most complaints come from PvP so lets start discussing this first.
Are we too strong in PvP? Don't know because I refuse to participate in it. All I hear is people complaining about tatics, 1 hit kills, and balancing issues. Both sides have vaild arguments in PvP. How fair was it when Commandos could 1 hit kill someone, probably not very fair. How fun is it to get diseased from a Combat Medic, I bet its not that fun. But if you are going to say we need this mele damage give me some reasons otherthan a person who brings a knife to a gun fight should have the same chance at winning. I may not know all the issues but here are some that have come up quite often that I would like to address in PvP.
1) I have heard multiple Teras Kasi Masterssay we shouldn't be able to block while holding a heavy weapon, hence the extra damage. Ok, I agree. Plain and simple right. But since were now in real life, if I hit you between the eyes with my cdf pistol, you better die instantly. These arguments about real life hold no water in a video game!! This is my first internet game, probably my last, and the one thing everyone has to realize its a game not real life. (just for a joke, watch Indiana Jones and tell me ifa sword is better than a gun)
2) Now lets talk about theargument that is most disturbing to me which is an argument for PvP and PvE. "Use strategy", this is what someone said to me in a previous post. Adapt to the new rules by making most of what you have, meaning use your Markman skills and weapons while picking your moments to use Heavy Weapon skills and weapons. I didn't just work my arse off for 3 months to be lowered to Marksman level fighting. Anyone in an elite or hybrid profession that say they use there Novice skills more than there higher skills is full of crap. I would honestly like to see a Master Teras Kasi choose to use Unarmed hit 1, Unarmed blind 1, Unarmed Stun 1, and Unarmed Spin 1 to do there fighting. You ask why wouldn't they use those, because they don't compare to the better skills in Teras Kasi Profession. Now I'm not saying these old skills are not useful, especially bleeds, but I shouldn't have to rely on them to survive in this game if no oneother professionhas to either.
3) Balance, balance, balance. That is all I hear from devs and complainers. Why must everyone one have the same chance to kill another player? I keep saying this, there is no balance. The devs will fix one profession and find out know they made the others weak. So they either nerf that profession again or give an unfair advantage to the others to compensate which makes the other profession broke again. Round and Round we go. I know lets start an uber combo system, hahaha. I am going to love to see the boards when that comes out. /sarcasm on - Since we want balance I now want Dancers to have a mele fighting tree, one that gives them the ability to dizy players by flashing them and thenstrangling them with theirlegs. A musician should have a mele fighting tree, one that gives them the ability to knockdown by playing a high intense sound that makes your ears bleed. Image Designer should have the ability to give you ink poisoning. Chefs should be able to throw pie in your face, blah blah blah. /sarcasm off - I could go on forever trying to make every profession balanced. Just realize it will never be balanced because some professions are better at fighting one on one. Unfortunatelty the devs seem to change things on a whim if there are complaints coming from PvP.
Now that is said, change PvE back to normal and keep your issues with PvP in PvP! Why should I be killed first in a group because I happend to have a heavy weapon equipped. This mele change has ruined a Commandos chance of survivingunless we start using a pet. I for one love pets, but thats just me. Not all people like the fact that its a **edit** world out there. Also, I could Master Commando easily in one day since I'm completely maxed out on exp points right now, only have HAR and someField Tatics line left. But forget that, why waist skills to Master something that is worthless except for one tree. What is disturbing is now I find I have to drop my skills in Commandowhile keeping flame thrower as a backup and go to more CH and TK to survive alone. Its pathetic when your given a pentalty if you Master a profession, something is just not right here. Also, I would be happy if the devs would just give me an option of throwing my HAR at my enemy to kill them since shooting them with it is laughable.
BTW Commandos who say they've adapted by getting beetles to take the hits, lets see what you say when the devs nerf their armor. You'll be coming on here saying that your pet can't take the hits and you can't survive anymore, unless you bleed them and burst run like a little *****.

You have just hit the nail on the head. The other classes (melee) complain that they can't beat the commando one on one in PvP using their best shots against our best shot. Instead of using strategy themselves they expect the commando to be nerfed and use lower level attacks against their elite level attacks. How is this balancing? If they can not take a commando on solo ( try taking on a AT-ST solo) then guess what? Don't.
If you wish to test yourself against a commando and lose maybe it is youthe TK expertthat is the problem and not the commando. May be you need to realize that it is your class and not the commando that is at fault. Perhaps the reality of a flamethrower vs. an unarmed combatent is a new concept to you. How is that the commandos problem? If someone is unclear on the concept I don't think it is the commando.
Thanks Resead well said.
Mega Damage...I fought a Flambaa the other day...I got a nice hit on it...took out almost a quarter of it's life in one shot and put a nice burn on it...2 hit's later (before the delay was up)I'm incapped...sure the burn made it so I could kill the creature when I got up, but that's not the point...why does this creature do bonus damage to me and not other's who are forced to fight close quarters?
Simply put...prior to the patch we all agree that we shouldn't be doing 2.5x melee damage to range professions...so we rallied behind getting that fixed. Our good intentions backfired on us...
After the patch...they just made us fall into that same ranged catagory, which in turn made a susceptable to the same melee damage bonus we were doing to others...except we still have to fight at melee range to use our specials. Any other ranged group (like Rifleman) who say "Welcome to our world" don't know what they are talking about until they try only using their specials at 16m or less distance...then they can talk.
The solution...create a seperate catagory/class just for us...one where we don't do the 2.5x melee damage bonus to others, and we don't fall victim to it either...OR...keep us in the range class so we don't do the 2.5x melee damage but are still victim to it,and in-turn,let us use our specials at a more reasonable range (32m or more) so we would truely fit into the Range class.
That's what needs to happen now...our other issues...like useless trees, weapons, etc. are problems that can be handled another day...
