Thread: Why not a little terrain nego for us commandos?
Is that too much to ask? Im not asking to get some godly amount of terrain nego, but comon, now that we can do some decent damage, commandos have become an integral part to big game hunting and factional pvp/pve. Now that bases are attackable, we are needed to take out turrets and hack 1 of the terminals. We are one of the most combat oriented classes in the game and spend the second most amount of skill points to get it (second only to the bounty hunter) and we remain the slowest of everyone.
Its ridiculous how slow we are in comparison to our other counterparts. A master combat medic gets +50 terrain negotiation and we still get 0. BH's obviusly get a ton because they have to master scout. Im not asking to be godly fast, but it would be nice to be able to take the long haul across dathomir in a group and not be dead last all the time and force the group to stop and wait for me to catch up constantly. Give us like +25 or +30 when we reach master. Given the amount of skill points we use to achieve master commando, its not fair to force us to use the leftovers on scout skills that will be of no use to us just so that we can try to keep up. Im not pointing any fingers or saying they dont deserve theirs, but if a master combat medic can have +50 terrain negotiation why cant us commandos get some?
You guys all know what im talkin about here.
I rather think they should remove it from CM, whats the point of having different skill/profession lines if you get all the things you "need" from one line. Like most other professions commandos have enough points left after master to pick up some scout skills.
To force people to decide what they want to spend there extra skillpoints on makes the game more diverse, if not we will just have another class based game where one class will be the “best”.
Anyway that’s my look view, coming from a BH changing to Commando/TKA
DarkSwed. So you are changing from BH to a commando/tka huh? Nice build, its the same one I use. IM a master commando and a master tka. Ill tell you what, let me know when you achieve master tka and master commando, play it for a month and be sure to do some group events with your friends, then come back and tell me we shouldnt have terrain nego. Like I said, im a master tka and a master commando, when you are finished you will have 17 skill points remaining. Im not going to get very much done in scout with that since novice scout costs 15 skill points. That leaves me with 2 leftover and that isnt enough to train in another skill.
You will see how pitifully slow you will be. Just about everyone else in the game has some terrain negotiation of some sort and it really makes grouping a bear when you feel that you are constantly holding everyone up.
Well if you master 2 elite professions you will be low on extra points, in my world thats the whole point of this system, what next, some medic skill too and maybe a bit of CH?
If thats the case we may as well just have one skill line. Lets focus on get commandos main role working better insteed of taking other proffesions skills.
Best example would be to look at how the class balancing was done in the ancient game Team Fortress Classic. The Heavy Weapons guy was a tank. He could saw anything up really quick once that chain gun got moving. But the downfall was he moved extremely slow. This allowed for the faster moving classes to still have a chance against them. I don't know how many HW guys i had killed playing as a spy because i could move and circle them before they could saw me down. (Note i am not saying turn this game into an FPS. Rather a comparison of class balancing)
Heavy weapons should be just that and slow us down actually. But we should not take 2.5 times the damage in being slowed down. That would give TKA's a chance against us but allow us to remain useful in PvE. Its about balancing. Give and Take.
BTW try grouping with a squad leader. Their +25 group negotiation works wonders. It helps our Master Smuggler/Master Dancer keep up with us on guild hunts.
