You're asking a forum full of guys who tote flamethrowers not to flame you? HAH!

But to answer your question..man, you're so luck to have gotten Commando. It's one of the easiest professions to move up in. First go get yourself a good flamethrower. Then kill everything! Pretty much anything in the game will die to a flamethrower once you get a few specials for it. Then once you're at Flame 4....continue to use your flamethrower. Use it to go up the Heavy Support Weapons branch and the Acid Rifle branch. Use the combat exp to go up the other branch, I forget the name. If you're a powergamer you could do this in a few days easy.

If you have no marksman skills, and it appears you don't you'll have a longer trail than the above post makes it sound like. First go get novice marksman, and find decent CDEF guns on the Bazzar. I routinely made 31-60 3.? rifles and carbines. Start working up the trees to master marksman, buying new weapons as you are certified for them. The hard part of novice commando is unarmed. I also have pistoleer, so I could stack health shot 1 & 2 on a MOB and then start hitting. As long as you only get the bleeds off then go unarmedall the xp goes into unarmed. I think I got through 1 to 3 this way in a few hours, but unarmed IV is a different story, 70,000 pts takes a long time to get! Take you best ubese armor (for the kinetic resist) and group with a pet or two (I did a rock bettle and a probot) to pull bantha missions (level 20)out of the terminals. These will be about 3500 credits and the banthas don't pack assist. I think they were like 1.5 or 2K xp each. Wish I would have thought about it sooner. You are going to take a beating so have some medic skills or a buddy along, and remove the armor between attacks for faster healing (but I'm sure you knew that). I actually did the Banthas to get the combat xp to make novice commando, but I think with healing/ good armor/ and pistol bleeds (HS1&2 ~ 900 health evey few seconds!)you could do unarmed IV this way. Then you are there, go buy a launcher pistol (you specials and stats work with it!) and a flammer, and have fun! I haven't grinned so much in this game since I walked out of the weaponshop and lit up gorg in a huge ball of flames!

no that is strictly combat xp. you can lvl it up without ever touching a grenade. As much as everyone else hates this idea, I would strongly suggest getting and learning to use a tank non-CH pet, and also get skilled in un-equiping your heavy weapon in a split second, cause if you dont you will die ALOT

ok, commando tree is this

Field Tactics ( the genade tree you are talking about ): combat xp to level up .

Heavy Weapon Support ( all the fun goodies but expensive (the HPBC, RL and etc.)) : Heavy weapon xp.

FlameThrower : Heavy weapon xp.

Acid Rifle: Heavy weapon xp...

so like the other guys said... your FT will be you new best friend until you make master, then is all fun toys (except HAR and launcher pistol, one annoys my screen, and one... *sigh*..)

Easy? Well I gues befor the patch it was moving ok. You guys must of had flame 4 befor that damage mod. Take it from me, when I got flame 1 done there was no patch and it came quickly, but now that you get that damage mod, and miss a lot at flame 1 I found myself floundering through flame 2. Maybe its just me but at the moment its a very bad time to be just starting comando.

Getting a non-CH pet is a good idea to buy you some time. Almost a must but soon a lot of them wil be unuseable.

I wish you luck and hope you fair better than me.

Here is the way I did it and did it fast.

1) for marksman all branches, Unarmed, and All commando branches.

Go to the tuskan fort with a at least a group of 10 -15 people and one of them a master CH another a Master medic at least. Stand back and switch your weapons as you level in each one. I would be there will be someone in group that can train all of them. In one night you can get marksman 3 3 32 easy. The next night you can get unarmed 3 the same way and probally any one of the marksman to 4 and the ranged to 3. The next night you can get the other 2 marksman to 4 andvery close to 4 in ranged support. One more night and you will get unarmed 4 and ranged support 4.

This can be done with maybe 2 to 3 hours of play a night. It can go faster if you have some combat xp saved or some marksman skills.

After that move to the harder planets for better combat xp and money also a change of scenery. Once again a group of 10 people and a master CH and master medic is needed. Once you reach novice commando use the launcher pistol and flame thrower together for the most effective xp gains. Once you get a flame special use the flame thrower to kill every single thing you see. Even that 50 xp creature that you could throw a rock at is still worth 50 xp points and can be killed in a few seconds.

I hope this helps you in your hunt for the elusive jedi.
