Just curious where the weapon's radius starts... Is it from the point of impact, or a cone in front of the commando?

and also, does the Plasma flamer still do AoE? Because mine doesn't show a radius when examined any more... EDIT: Same with both of the acid weapons...

As for the whole cone/radius thing its seems to be a combination of the two. For example, I know it's a cone as things behind me don't get damaged. However, when I hit things at maximum range I sometimes aggro critters that are slightly behind my target too. The Launcher Pistol I think is a radius as I have noticed that KD works on critters behind me, but it's been so long since I've used one.

The PFT still has the AoE, and as far as the 6 m radius this is what I have observed:

1) It's not a 6 m radius starting from your point of space (ie, you shoot something...the AoE happens in a circle up to 6 meters from your person)

2) Its a cone that stretches to about 25 meters (at least on the PFT, may or may not stretch to max range or just 25 m)

3) It seems the 6 meter radius is actually either the angle of your cone, or the opposite side of that central angle

I would definately say how they coded our AoE, involved some Trig in the math for it. Because you can easily hit something 6 meters away, but still aggro stuff 15 m away that were directly in front of you as well. Or heh, it could very well be just a big ol' rectangle that functions like LOS for up to 25 meters.

As far as AoE weapons go:

The Grenades, LBC, PFT, ASL, and LP are pretty much our AoE weapons. The RL, HAR, Proton Rifle, and seemingly the HPBC are non-AoE now. Of course, only one of those non-AoE weapons is high level, and one of those AoE weapons is low level...funny isnt it? With the HPBC its suppoused to be an AoE, where it can punch through multiple targets if lined up...from what I've seen recently, that AoE is broken (totally), not there anymore, or has such a small AoE its hardly even noticeable.

Hi StarNick,

I have always worked on it as follows :-

CONE
Around a 30 degree cone originating from the Player with it's center on the Target ending at weapons range. (ASL)

6m RADIUS
You can hit a Target at the range of the weapon, from that Target the 6m Radius begins, ie a 12m diameter circle around the Target.(LP, CD, LBC, HPBC, FT)

Note, some of the weapons changed between Cone and 6m Radius while they were fiddling with AOE. Also some of the descriptions said Single Target when they had 6m Radius on them so not sure exactly what they are meant to be.

Cheers
Teshma.

Yes just about how I figure it (I was tempted to say 30-45 degree angle as it seems like it, but im not totally sure), but in other words.

It just seems two fold on the majority of our weapons (save the non-AoE and HPBC, which never intended to be 6 meters but something that could punch a hole in a straight line) have a Line of fire (the cone), but can also extend in a 6 meter radius around that target. So it can aggro stuff behind your point of impact to a certain limit, while also dishing out the damage in a 12 meter or so radius. Note, I say this because many times I miss with my AoE when Im not facing enemies perfectly (ie they're too far left) so it really does seem that theres two forces at play here.

This is pretty much my overall strategy in combat, I manuver quite a bit and try get everything together then let em have it. It seems now to really control our AoE and be useful, we're now masters of mobile warefare too.
