Thread: Maybe we'd get fixes with a name change (venting thread)

Just a thought, but what if we changed the profession name to some variant of Bounty Hunter? I mean, as some of the top issues have been sitting there, I can't help but notice BH getting a weapon that would have solved our problem of not having a single target/high damage weapon. Then BH mission loots that basically put all others to shame.

Commando gets........grenade fixes... Now while this is nice...no, no it's not nice. Someone explain to me why they fixed grenades when AOE is still broken, I still don't see a really viable tool for commando that doesn't agro everything, I seem to do about as much damage with a pistol as my flame thrower, I certainly wouldn't call myself a tank in any capacity, and with our specials tied to weapons with damage limited by the level they cert at they lose most of their value. About the only thing fixing grenades did was allow me to use them and remind myself of how pointless they are with such timers and effects that the weapons seem to land in a more powerful way...not to mention the cost of them since they're such a pain to make.

Honestly, I thought I heard somewhere that SOE didn't want to make this a game about just jedi and BH. Well, why is it that for all the stuff they've done in those two classes I've yet to see anything in commando that actually makes me think, "hey, this improves my viability and/or gets me a step closer to that little diagram of the role commando was supposed to have..." Commando sure has changed a lot, and the reason I took it back up and I'm sticking with it is because I think it has so much potential...and it looks awesome . However, with elemental damage turning out to be a wash and AOE turning out to be as much a curse as a blessing (even when they fix AOE, I saw somewhere that it'll be 40%? So we still agro everything we hit, it'll still be doing full damage to us, we do less than half normal damage to it?) I'm starting to wonder if commando will break even.

The real kick in the pants is that it isn't like there's been a lack of ideas. There's just been almost a total lack of dev interest. I mean, they give BH stuff that they aren't even really asking for, and Starnick is here laying out things that we need and being ignored.

damn. Them figures hurt my feelings. I say we all get up in arms, Pick up our PFTs and litterally BURN DOWN THE FORUMS! DEATH TO THE SERVERS!

The really sad thing is Commando should be one of the premier profs in SWG. It should be the culmination of hard hitting base killing power for any ranged profession. Commandos should be the ultimate soldier in the GCW. I think the main reason it suffers is a lack of interest in the GCW from the Devs. That is the saddest thing about this game, it is supposed to be this glorious struggle between the Empire and the Rebellion and yet all we do all day is kill countless creatures on sparsely populated planets. I guess the war is on hold until we finish grinding.

So how can we get worked up into a frothy frenzy like that again? I mean the kind that is productive in getting a dev to post. Hell I will b!tch and flame till the cows come home if it means something actually gets fixed.

Since so few higher ups, save an internal Dev that's actually working on a profession system/component/item, they barely post in the profession forums anymore...precisely because of the frothy frenziness.

Thats why (i believe) Helios really put some effort into keeping us updated and giving feedback during most of beta, because we were exactly opposite of that frothy frenzy...unfortunately either it seems he was told to stop, or pressure from other communities who were getting frothy frenzy forced him to stop

Helios really is one of the more talented developers. I dont mean to take that as he is the best programmer (which I have NO way of even measuring that), but he certainly is/was the best to come in, talk with us, listen, then report back his findings. When he was here posting, my confidence in Commando was thru the roof. But that is what I liked about him, and admired about him. He came in, asked honest questions, gave honest feedback (even if it wasnt exactly what we wanted hear), and then followed up.


I have to ask, "What is so wrong with that?!?!?!?!"


I honestly think he was told to lay off us, because other profs were getting a tad bit jealous of the interaction we were getting from him, they were getting upset that they were getting the same from their respective dev(s). And rightfully so.


I dont recall more dev interaction in the profession forums during CU beta than Commando, with the possible exception of armorsmith. CU hit live, then they all vanished.
