Thread: Slicing the Proton Rifle, what is the best combo?

Title says it all. What and where should I be putting my customization points? Speed? Dmg?
My rifle is on the higher side of the set stat range, but not overly so. Anyone got any suggestions? Hints? Derisive comments?

At the moment, I dont see any reason not to slice all weapons to max damage. Spreading slicing over both damage and speed doesnt give the highest DPS, while all in one attribute will. With the most damage you'll do more damage per shot. With speed you'll do the same damage as before but faster. DPS wise it works out the same, but faster firing also means greater action usage.

I sliced my proton rifle with lvl 3 damage, lvl 1 speed and lvl 1crit hit chance.
The sac was still high. I did not need a damage dealing pup because of the slice, so i put on a pup for sac, brought it down to about 80 from like 120(cant remember exact numbers)
so with that setup, it is a very formidable wepon.

the 1/3/1 slice was the one I was lookin at, I was just worried about the dmg cap.Thanx for the freedback. Anyone else?

The only issue wioth your reasoning for max damage slice, is if the wep is already at its cap from useing kryat tissues or the like, then you are wasting resources on the damage. But otherwise I agree with you

i wish the SAC was sliceable... or the gun craftable.
but barring that, i just use a SAC reducing powerup that drops the SAC to a usable 85.

Yeah the 1/3/1 is the best IMO and Zotux no tissue or resources are being wasted since the weapon is loot only.

I recommend a Speed Slice 12% and a SAC pup to keep the cost down.

Personally on mine I went with max damage, 1 speed, 1 crit. And I use a damage pup on it to boot. Event then it eats up my action like no tomorrow. But it -ALMOST- matches the damage I was doing back when I was Mcom/Mrifles. (Then again I have really high spd with all my mods and the +10 from the proton)

FYI...the proton rifle and many other quest weapons do not have a damage cap, so there's no worries about maxing it out.
