can you use any of the marksman specials with theflamethrower/HAR? or are commandows more or less back at square 1 as they get there proff?

Supposedly no. At least that's what other Commandos with the weapons have said. We still can't make any of the Comando HEavies on Radiant, so I can't test them myself to tell you on personal experience.

Tailor is a better class for combat than commando.
