Thread: How I feel commandos (the supposed titans of combat) should work.
Now I have been giving a little thought into this, but it seems to me, that it is the entire skill tree that is flawed, am I right? Our only weapon type that we are given to train with are heavy weapons, but they are meant to be secondary. And sure we do know how to use many other weapons, like pistols and our fists, but using them does not benefit our class.
So here is how I imagine they should work:
First step is the prerequisites are master marksman and master brawler (currently there is no incentive for anyone to master brawler).
Next upon entering the commando profession you are given four disciplines. Here is another area where my idea strays from the devs... The disciplines are as follows:
Heavy weapons (all the junk that is currently in the commando tree goes here)
Ranged weapons (here would be a few more weapon certs and skills to add on to your abilities as a master marksman... possibly upon becoming a commando you become eligible for general ranged xp)
Melee weapons (similar to ranged weapons just concerning melee weapons, with melee certs)
and finally...
Commando training and discipline ( a set of skill mods designed to raise defense and other similar skills)
I believe that if this pattern was followed, the commandos would become as they were originally meant to, proficient in all forms of combat yet still balanced enough so that they wouldn't make specialized classes of the weapons obsolete. In this manner commandos would be able to become the combat machines they were meant to be, and at the same time as the devs wish the commandos would be able to use heavy weapons as a secondary weapon with out causing a great hinderance to their class.
(I know the last two sentences sounded repetitive, I'm sorry)
I'd like your feedback on this revamped version of the class, thank you all in advance.
