Here is an excerpt from the interview that raph did. He actually acts surprised that there is only 1 master commando in the game. What he doesn't reveal is the reason why: you can't get xp from broken/non-existant weapons.

RAPH: But when you're talking Squad Leaders or Commandos, there is one Master Commando in the entire game right now. One!

UGO: Isn't Master Commando the class where you get to wield flame throwers and rocket lauchers?

RAPH:: Yeah.

UGO: You'd think more people would be interested in that.

RAPH:: [laughs] Well, it's hard, is what it is. So there's a definitely curve to see which professions have Masters and which don't.
