The markmanship tree gives a total of 30+ General Ranged Aiming, does this work with the commando weapons? Etc using aim with flamethrower should help quite a bit....

YES YES YES YES YES!

it's the only way I can hit, most of the time.

goes from +3 to +33 when things are right in front of me.

Ah thats great, I never actually had to use AIM with the other combat proffessions.... how does it work, I read it skips a combat round. so say I use aim without specials it takes twice as long to take a shot?

aim is the only reason I hit anything... My flame single macro is /aim; /flamesingle1 then I run around like a chicken with my head cut off until it dies, providing I do manage to hit it... if I miss I run around like a chicken with my head cut off praying I get the chance to take another shot.

i never actually considered aim.

Does it act as a marksman special? (time being based off of the weapon)

Or as a commando special? (9-21 second downtime)

aka /aim wait 15 seconds then you shoot or

/aim wait 4.9 second then you shoot

/aim adds 1 second to your delay.

Totally, and I mean totally worth it when you're using the flame specials.

Yes. It's mentioned in the guide. Make a macro to replace all your special attack buttons in the hotbar. DON'T use a special without it.

Aim works with ALL commando weapons. Grenades, rockets and cannons included.

I couldn't figure out why in the world we were required to get master markman and then I noticed the general ranged aiming bonus.

Read the details and went AHA!

That said. You will stop running when you AIM.

it says in the description for "General Aiming" that it gets better if you use several '/aim's in a row before you shoot... except, that doesn't seem to work... the next /aim just resets the one before.. so you don't get more accuracy. (nor less, of course).

would be nice if it did, though... and very much more worth it. (not that it's not totally worth it already).

That used to be true elerial you could stack 3, but there was some exploit or something at the beginning of live so they changed it.

Personally my macro goes

/kneel

/aim

/flameSingle2

Kneel seems to give the best accuracy mod, better than prone or standing. Although obviously thats a pve macro not a pvp one.
