Thread: all those complaining that commando is overpowered (Long)
You suck. Plain and simple. You are terriblepvp combatants. You couldn't come up with a decent strategy if it bonked you on the head. You judge professions on only 5 minutes of what you saw from them. You were stupid enough to stand right in front of a flamethrower and expect not to be burnt to a crisp. You stood bunched up with your group members and didn't take into account one of the commando's strengths. You never bothered todoresearch on the commando and find out it's obvious weaknesses. Too geeky for you? Well I have news for you, this is not an fps. It's an rpg and in rpgs, strategic thinking overcomes brute strength and quick reflexes. That's what they're all about.
We're the big guys of the game. In a battle of brute strength, we will win but you are faster, sneakier, you have more specials and it didn't take you as much hard work to get you where you are than it did them.
Take a look at that flamethrower, damaging isn't it? Not so damaging if you're 50m away. Not so damaging if you're wearing heat resistant armor. Not so damaging if you take into account that it is AP0. Not so damaging if you take into account that if we miss (and oh my goodness do we ever miss) and have to sit there for 15 seconds while you tear us up. Sure we can set you on fire and that'll hurt a little bit but what about the bounty hunters who can do the same thing or the combat medics who can give you a deadly disease?
The acid rifle. Quite frankly, it's only saving grace is that it shoots acid. It's slower, weaker and requires more xp to gain skills than the flamethrower.
Grenades. No one uses them. Why? Because they cost a fortune and are gone before you know it.
The heavy weapons, now that is some damage isn't it? Well when you get hit by one of these, just feel happy knowing that he wasted some of the limited ammunition on this weapon that he had to give the weaponsmith hisfirst born child to pay for.
Just the other day, an imperial commando with the skill flamethrower IV walked into moenia. Everyone was too afraid to attack him because they figured he was unbeatable and they weren't going anywhere near him until he was nerfed. Well me and one of my guildmates killed him with our laser rifles when he barely did anything on us. It was heartbreaking as this guy had pretty much mastered the flamethrower while I was only a rifle specialist and my friend was a novice sharpshooter.
I've dueled everything from pistoleers, carbineers, rifleman to TKAs and I've lost many duels. Why is this happening? I've worked so much harder to get where I am than they did to get where they were. That's because they came up with good strategies to overly take advantage of my weaknesses. The only people I actually beat were people like you who thought it would be a good idea to stand right in front of my face and spam their strongest move.
One day while I was travelling with my guildmates and I decided to show them the power of flamesingle1. Sure they were impressed with the 3000 damage I was doing on the peko peko. But I don't think they were as impressed when I missed with it (and I can assure you, I missed ALOT) and they had to heal me and take care of the monsters themselves while I had to sit there for 15 seconds and wait till I can do flamesingle1 again and miss again. I'm no longer the weak link in my guild but I'm certainly not the guy they call for help every time when needed.
We're supposed to be one of the strongest combat professions out there. We're commandos after all. We specialize in combat. The bounty hunters, smugglers and combat medics merely have their combat skills for survival while they use their other skills. They don't specialize in combat. The pistoleers, carbineers, riflemanetc only specialize in one weapon. Commando is a pure combat profession with absolutely nothing else.
So you say that now everyone is going to become commando and we're going to see nothing but commandos? Well I sure hope so. That way they can all realize how weak the commando is and I can exploit their weaknesses making me even more powerful. Maybe we'll see less complaining about the commandos being too powerful and more actual strategies on how to beat these inaccurate soldiers. Don't forget that mastering commando leaves you with not too many skill points left. We're just big dumb soldiers who shoot big guns. Sure you can dish out pain like no other but that'll be pretty much all you can do. You won't be able to experience otherparts of the game that don't consist of combat then you'll leave because there's nothing else for you to do. Good riddance.
Now if you'll excuse me. I have to get back to setting mindless trolls on fire.
In FPSes the cheeseball with the spam-fire rocket launcher wins. In MMORPGs the guy with the more intelligent tactics and the character to pull them off wins.
Amen Brother! I'm not a commando I study TKA...You guys have been at the bottom end of the food chain for far to long. ENJOY YOUR NEW FOUND POWER. You guys deserve it. Congratz!!!!!
Cry havoc and unleash the dogs of war on all that cry NERF!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I dont know about a Master Pikeman, but Im closing in on Master Commando now, and I assure you that I could kill a commando with a BH or Rifleman. I havent ever used a Carbine or played a CM but Im guessing there are others that could take a Commando out as well.
The last 2 deaths I took were to a BH(eyeshots, not LLC) and a Master Smuggler/Pistoleer with a TEF. In both cases I fought back but missed Flamesingle2 3 times from a kneeling position.
In fact, the first time I fought the Smuggler/Pistoleer I missed Flamesingle and he starting kiting me around the Starport Hanger bay out of Flamesingle range. I Kneeled down and hit him with a HPBC blast just before I ran out of health.
I know one thing, you wont get 2 FT misses against a high level BH, unless hes using the LLC and misses you also hehe.

and for the record people, a flame thrower IS a melee weapon. When's the last time I've seen a flame thrower go farther then 15 ft? I mean it would take a whole lot of fuel to simply shoot ONE ranged long distance shot with a flamethrower, never mind it actually hitting the target.
I couldnt have said it any better myself! Excellent post my friend!
