My understanding is yes there is a melee penalty for using heavy weapons. For purpose of use they are considered identical to holding a rifle.

It would be possible to have covert melee players guard players against commandos. When you attack the melee character's groupmates they give a tef for the melee player to use. Even in range of the weapon's aoe you would be immune to its damage, allowing the melee player to walk up and say "didn't you kill my brother?"

No not right now. Although some people are suggesting it. But since Commandos have to be within melee range to use their weapons such a penalty would be a death sentence to the class.

Why have the commando learn the unarmed tree only to give them a melee penalty???

Good question. . . im still trying to find out the benefits of having this tree in our training. . . Nothing we do suggests unarmed. . .

it incurs a melee penalty to simulate the unwielding nature of it. Also believe it actually supposed to be higher than rifle for heavy weapons.i think its 3 modifer. the use of unarmed would be that if a brawler charge you considering you in reload vill you could unequpi your weapon and stand a better chance. As a commando you should be very weary of brawlers.

Shadusdarkmour,

um....NO

If that is the case then just remove the unarmed tree from commando. I didn't train to commando to fight unarmed. "stand a better chance better chance"??? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH your an idiot.

If I'm to be weary of brawlers give me 64m range like a rifleman.

one it helps you because of stun and blind. I play a fencer alot. Blind makes a big difference. Two it helps you not have 3 time modifer to damage.sure damage stinks but techically with smaller delay your chances would be muchhigher. As a commando you arent invincible. In fact it works like paper rock scissors on a more complicated level. fighting a brawler with heavy weapons suicide. You got one shot to knock them out thatit on knowledgable brawler. If you trust your accuracy that much go ahead. Me i trust my sword then. Dont disregardyour lower skills as useless in the right situation they are smarter to use then your higher ones. One on one i would so equip launcher and kite but in the heat of battle when i a brawler sneak up on you be fore you can get out of range switching to melee would be a way to do it. Using melee to finish off a weakened enemy would be a possibility. I guess all i am saying is dont count it out because it has its strengths. My fencer keeps macro to unequip stun then reequip be cause its another stat that helps him.food for thought.

Which is why, if I was to fight a meleer, I'd be using my Master Marksman skills too.

Because of focus on -one- thing alone, is where a Commando would get owned.
