Thread: There Really Is No Point To Most of Our Skill Set, Is There?

Every time I look at our skill tree I get ticked off. Two of our trees seem quite pointless. HAR is just a poor excuse for a weapon. Field Weapons are also pretty useless since grenades have little value from a damage perspective since they have no specials. THat leaves the two middle branches. FT of course works. This leaves the 2nd branch, which consists mainly of shoulder fired weapons without specials or significant blast radius. No wonder people are selecting commando just to go up to Flame IV and then dropping the class. Personally speaking, I'm pretty tempted myself.

Does anyone here think a Green Beret or Navy Seal has one kaboom weapon and that's it? No stealth? No unarmed tactics? No knife fighting? No claymore mines? Trip wires?

Better to call the existing class Heavy Weapons Specialist than Commando. And it just preys to the Least Common Denominator in the game, doesn't it ("I love this game, it reminds me of my Quake frags and . . ..")

What do you guys think?

I think it's patently obvious that the HAR needs to be AP1. We absolutly must have a non-charged AP weapon. It should be an easy fix as well. I'd recommend this be the new #1 issue, partly because of it's importance, partly because it's somewhat likely to get fixed.

I also think that the accuracy of the Heavy Weapons could use a boost. I have Heavy Weapons 4, and I have a tough time hitting anything. Grenades should have state changes like stunn/dizzy/blind, etc for different types of grenades (flashbang stun/blind anyone?).

I really hope they don't think they're done fixing commandos. They have made us viable, but not complete.

Wow, my first 5 Star post. Hehe. Its funny that in game I am struggling with the fact that it was SO DARN COSTLY to get to Commando and so tough getting to Rifleman that I am really torn about spending my limited remaining points.

It will be interesting to see where the Commandois two or three months from now. Fortunately, there are excellent posters like MasterSynn and Ivoni to keep them on their toes to they extent they listen. Right now, it seems that all SOE is doing is damage control.

heh grenades own.

lob a grenade at someone next time your having trouble getting in the 16m range for a special. Surprises the hell out of them and does huge damage.

Need to upgrade/change HAR. Rest is fine.

I think grenades are good, but would be a lot better if the recipes yielded more charges - they're just too expensive per charge. The shoulder weapons are expensive but worth it - rocket shots are like gold plated bullets to me, both because of the cost but also because they always seem to come through for me in a pinch.

I view the grenades and the heavy shoulder weapons as 'situational' weapons, especially as "panic button" shots. When the poo hits the fan, I whip out a glop grenade or my rocket launcher and so far, at least, they've always made all the bad things go away The blast radius could be a bit bigger, but trust me, it works

The HAR is the only weapon we have thatI'm unhappy with and that is mainly because it's got the exact same specials as the flamethrower. I would enjoy more diversity in weapons types and tactics - I'd like to be able to lay mines, for example, and set time-bombs, and for the HAR to at least have different specials than the flamethrower so it feels like using a different weapon. But I feel our shoulder weapons and grenades are good.

The best of his class at secret training grounds on Yinchorr, Kanos was an expert at the echani fighting form and in wielding a force pike. Kanos' fanatical loyalty, though, was his greatest and most dangerous weapon. Even after Palpatine was defeated at Endor, Kanos and his fellow Royal Guardsmen remained true to the Imperial ideal. As Imperial moffs and admirals began greedily carving up the Empire to fuel their own ambitions, Kanos attempted to uphold the codes of the New Order.
