Thread: Commando or Bounty Hunter? Please help!

Ok, Im currently ima novice commando. I have 2 boxes filled in the flame skill tree, and im half way through the third. My question is, I currenlty qualify for Bounty hunter as well. And one thing that made me rethink this profession is the 15sec delay! Correct me if im wrong, once a commando execute's a special he's fodder for the next 15 seconds, he can't pull out any other weapon until that timer is up, correct? During a raid we did on anchor head last night, I kept getting wasted, I would flame single or Flame cone, next thing you know, Knockdown, Dizzy, Incap. One more thing, does anyone here use the Heavy support weapons, such as the Particle Beam riflel, Acid Beam Rifle, if so are they any good?

My point is should I go for BH or should I stick with Commando, I just want to be a force to reckon with in pvp, as it stands now, the BH have a LLC which is just as strong as the FT, they have the ever so deadly and cheezy eye shot, fire knockdown, bleed etc. Plus the multitude of modifiers they get in the pistol and carbine line. I just hate this time delay this really spoils it for me when it comes to pvp?

P.S please no flames, or immature comments about how stupid this post is. If you don't like what you read, or the questions ive raised DONT REPLY!!!! Just click on a post that matches your itellectual capacity.

Im pretty sure you can use a different weapons during that time based on what Ive read. I became Novice Commando yesterday () and I have 10k XP til flame 1 so I migth be wrong.

you can switch weapons, but you cant heal or do attacks during the delay.

I think it's all a matter of play style. Bounty hunters have more finese than commando's. They can move around, shoot rapidly and have great specials like eyeshot. Commandos are just brute force. I've gotten used to dying lately because people (some at least) have figured out that once my special fires off, I'm toast. It sure is nice to be able to deal out that big damage though, and I think the trade off is worth it. I personally love being a commando because that's how I like to fight. Get up close, roast 'em, make big wounds and see if I can survive til my next shot.

I was actually both for awhile. I agree mano y mano BHs rule. I liked the fact that I had heavy weapons for 3 damage types: LLC electric, Acid Rifle acid, and Flamer... The LLC is more accurate than any of the hws that are available to commando. I just surrendered all my BH skills last night though. I'm going Commando (hehe) for the long run. Basically, play your play style. BH for one on one, Commando for the major dmg at short range...

BH's are designed for PvP. Commandos have one solid trick (flamethrower) and one questionable trick (heavy particle beam). BH's have carbines, pistols, and Heavy weps.....plus nice speed, dmg, accuracy mods. They are just better PvP chars in equally skilled hands.

Theres more to Commandos than Flamethrowers. Usualy, my Flamethrower is the last resort when Im fighting a BH. But its safe to say that , In a fight with a high level BH, If it doesnt cost me my life, it will cost me thousands of credits

If you want to PvP, BH is the way to go. There's little question about that. Commandos, whith their fourstacking, armor-ignoring, resistence-ignoringfire dots can absolutely wreak havok against high-ham PvE targets.

So, ATM, if it's a choice between Commando and BH, go commando if you want to hunt Kryats and Kimos in a group. If you want to PvP , go BH. No questions asked.

BH.

Lets look at this in depth:

Commandos:

Launcher Pistol=Noise Maker

Acid Rifle=Sucks

Flamethrower=I just stay 60m from you.

Grenades=I don't think I've ever seen a grenade thrown in Game

BH

Eye Shot=Dead

Torso Shot=Hurting with Fire DOT

Fire KD=KD and Fire DOT

Add to that these can ALL be fired at 64m.

By the time the Commando gets near you, he's toast.

So in short....

Commando=Great for AT-St's and Close Quartes Battles.

BH=great for anything

Let the DOT flames begin.

I'm interested in upgrading my twenty eight point eight kilobaud internet connection to a one point five megabit fibre-optic T-1 line. Will you be able to provide an IP router that's compatable with my token ring ethernet LAN configuration?

Both Commando and BH have some stupid useless skill trees at the moment. I was a 2-4-4-4 BH, but I refuse to do another d@mn Inv 3 missions till they fix the payouts...so 0-3-4-0 Commando and 0-0-4-0 BH. Stacking Flame 2 DOT with Torso shot DOT is truly great. Plus u have enough points left over (exactly) for novice medic). You get to have all BH pistol skills for the launcher pistol...It is a good combo.
