Maybe I remember this wrong from ingame. But I can't for the love of god think of any reason why a pistol could possibly have the same range as a rifle.

Every gun should have the same max range, but should be ideal at certain ranges... For instance, the pistols I've seen have a ideal range at 19. If your within that 19, you have, (for discussions sake) 90% chance of hitting, versus if you were at 38 range, you'd be down to maybe a 30% chance of hitting.

Rifles have the long ideal range.

I agree that ranged weapons have an ideal range for hitting. Them all having the same maximum range still makes no sense to me.

Maybe the question should be ... Why to pistols currently have better accuracy than the rifle at all ranges ?

Maybe it doesn't say that but try it sometime. I rarely miss with my pistol at 63m. And I have a better skill with my rifle (specialized - as opposed to expert with my pistol).

seriously rifles are like good at their ideal and nowhere else. Now gimme a pistol and hell its okay at high range and only gets better as it gets closer, rifles should have like 96 range carbines 80 pistols 64 or some increments like that. Possibly make when u are attacking with differents weps running speed is different. From a prior military background, running with a rifle is slower than with a pistol any day of the week.

Just my 2 cents, hell you can have the whole dollar.

Wait till you trying using flamethrower... I'm missing like crazy with this piece of CRAP of a weapon.. come on.. how can I lvl this thing?! I'm having a 44% hit on GNORTS!!

That's because Rifles and Pistols are incredibly un-balanced at the moment:

- Rifles are only reasonably accurate at long range, they are useless within 30m.

- Pistols are accurate at all ranges.

- The best pistols have higher DPS then the best Rifles.

- Rifles are much harder to make and add enhancements to.

- Rifleman suffer a 2.5X damage increase in melee combat.

- Pistols have a knockdown move.

- Most pistol specials work, and work well.

- Many Rifle specials don't work.

- The best Rifles have insane HAM penalties, in an unhealable pool.

- All Pistols have relatively light HAM penalties, in healable pools.

And that's pretty much you're using the pistol more.

'pretty much why' that should be.

I have been a rifle-user since unlaunch day, but I started working on my pistol skills the other day and holy-freaking-cow, these things are awsome!

Pistols totally own on rifles in my opinion!

Pistols don't really fit the concept of a hunter, but I think I may have to jump over to pistols until rifles get some help.

Not to start a war here but I have a sliced FWG5 I think 1.7 speed and a sliced Laser Rifle with 5.4 speed now that said why do I always seem to be pulling out my pistol when things get dicey. an example I was hunting Garulamas last night bachleor Dappling etc, I would line up my 65m shot and either do awesome damage ( I open with Aim headshot 2 headshot 1)or miss and resort to my pistol and kite, or I would open up with my pistol (open with bleed shot,kip up, body shot2)and never really get in trouble. That said all is not fair here I have pistolIV with my bleed shot, I only have Rifle III but when I had pistol III it still seemed I could deal more dam and hold my own alot better with my pistol. Just my thoughts I know most rangers prefer Rifles but I always feel safer with my pistol.
