Today is my last day to play this game as I refuse to pay SOE to ruin my game experience on a regular basis anymore. I have had this game, and supported it since the first few days of release, but with this last nerf (and it is just that) I have lost all faith in the game for the next couple of months.
It is my intent to return once the combat revamp is implemented to see what the result is. If the result of this revamp is as vast as suggested, then at least the sheer difference of the game at that point should at least keep my interest for a month. Beyond that, if I find the game to be enjoyable once more, then maybe I'll even stay
.
For those of you that will look at this thread, and immediatly begin to flame me for complaining, or assume that I am leaving because I am inept and don't succeed in my in-game ventures, let me assure you; I am not leaving because I don't win every time. I came into this game with the intent of becomeing a Master Commando, and have been one for a long time. Throughout this time, I was perfectly capable of working with my advantages, and getting around my disadvantages in both PvE and PvP. I am not leaving because I have lost my "I win button," or because never had one. I am leaving because of the attitude of many of the people involved in the development of this game at many levels from managemnt to development to implementation.
The usual senarios I have seen go like this:
Senario #1:
Idiot: "OMFG! I GOT BEAT BY A(insert profession here)!"
SOE: "We'll se what we can do."
*next publish*: "(complained about profession here) has been completely gimped in order to improve game balance. (complained about profession here) is now much more balanced versus Marksmen 1/2/2/0, this should lead to much more balanced and fun PvP for everyone that spends more time complaining to us than playing the game."
Senario #2:
Person with clearly broken profession(PWCBP): "Um... something isn't right. Is (broken profession here) supposed to work like this?"
SOE: "(broken profession here)?! That's a profession?!"
PWCBP: "WOW. Yes it is, and I really don't think this is how it's supposed to work." (proceeds to repeat SOE's own description of profession back to them)
SOE *in their offices to one another*: "SHOOT! Someone actually became a (broken profession here)! Damnit! I HATE that profession, I only put it in to have the right number of professions! Screw them, I'm not fixing that profession... EVER."
PWCBP: "Remember me? I'm the (broken profession here)... Are you guys working on this?"
SOE: "We have an expert group of dedicated developers working diligently on (broken profession here)."
PWCBP: "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" *tears of joy*
*6 publishes later*
PWCBP: "Um... I think I remember you guys saying something about fixing (broken profession here), remember?"
SOE: "We have an expert group of dedicated developers working diligently on (broken profession here)."
PWCBP: "..." "SCREW THIS! I'M GOING (profession that is least nerfed/aka - flavor of the month here)!"
Senario #3:
Noob: "I'm dumb."
SOE: "This will be fixed in the next update."
*game as a whole is made dumber*
Noob: "I'm still dumb."
SOE: "This will be fixed in the next update."
*game as a whole is made even dumber*
*process is repeated until ever profession in SWG is essetially equal to Novice Marksmen 0/0/0/0 - Novice Brawler 0/0/0/0 - Novice Scout 0/0/0/0 template.
Noob: "This game sucks, I'm gonna go play Counter-Strike now."
These senarios all need to stop. I honestly believe the devs should stop listening to us alltogether, and just focus on making the game what THEY intended, not what every idiot on a forum wants it to be. If you are going to utilize user feedback, be smart about it, please.
