Thread: Some questions about Commando

Been thinking about going commando, just looking at all the available info and wondering if its really worth it. It seems like so much of the profession doesn't work as intended if it works at all. Wondering what the Master Commandos think of the current state of their profession. Not looking to be a god or anything that dramatic, just looking for a solid PvE profession that people would like to have along with them on some of the higher end dungeon raids. Ideally I'd like something more original than Rifleman or Swordsman but given all the apparent problems with commando I'm really not sure.


The fact that we get no real ap, crap for accuracy, no powerups, the consumeables charges have been nerfed to hell and they're hard to get to begin with....


I just have my doubts about the functionality of the profession, I hope they're misfounded, but I'll leave that to the masters out there.

One thing I forgot to ask was if there is any sign the devs are going to hear the desperate cries of the multitudes to make the LP a heavy wep, merge the FT HAR trees, add a new tree (be it FP or an E-Web or something of the like), fix nades (higher range and acc, lower hams), make all the weps work off one sufficiently leveled accuracy/speed modifier (once again making the skill tapes work), add the melee defenses, mitigation or otherwise, or do any of the other countless things the profession desperatly needs in the combat rebalance or god willing, in a small patch before.

Hello, yes Master Commando is great for PVE horrible for PVP. Master Commando is one of the few professions that can complete even the highest missions solo without a buff. I often join solo groups and get the highest paying and difficulty missions and complete them without a buff. You still have to use common sense and not try to tank the missions at times but overall it is a great profession for PVE. You can't beat the Flamethrower with the stacked special hits. Let me stress this one more time. Great for PVE not PVP. I hope this helps.

What is the status of Commando in pvp?


How do Commandos fare against Jedis?

We suck in PVP...although if you luck out and smack a jedi with a Heavy rocket launcher you might incap him. =)

A lot of things in the commando profession arent broken, but can be considered to "suck really bad". For instance the HAR, grenade HAM costs and range, no launcher specials, etc. If you really like using a flamethrower its great, since that is our only really viable (non-expendable) weapon without taking a second profession to support our LP (pistoleer, for example). Perhaps in future publishes we will get a HAR replacement and some other goodies.

But suckiness aside, Commando is very much playable in pvm and quite a bit of fun after you get up to the Flamethrower III skill box. I say FT 3 at least because you wont be able to hit anything at less than that with it - no joke it took me like 5 minutes to kill a Durni at Novice Commando because I kept missing. Once you start torching stuff for a couple thousand damage per special it becomes quite fun.

Alright, good to hear, thats just what I was looking for.


But yeah, they really need to make it so the LP doesn't rely on pistol skills/abilities. I'm sorry, but its just not right when a master pistoleer/novice commando can beat the crap out of a master commando with his own gun. Frankly I'd like them to just replace the thing entirely with the E-Web and make it a new tree, making room for it bymerging the FT and HAR trees and giving the HAR AP.
