Thread: Commando has been nerfed again

While i have been out hunting with my Flamethower and doing some duels and PVP on the TC i have noticed something lately. Not only does the burn DOT miss alot, but even when it does hit it doesn't last very long, like maybe10 or 15seconds if that, just seems like long enough for the DOT to hit twice and then it goes away, hardly doing any damage at all. I went out to kill a krayt using burn and feign and it took forever, cause it was like as fast as i could get a burn to actually hit and the DOT to stick, i would feign death and like 5 seconds later the DOT was gone before myHAM could even regen with +2500 buffs. This was the worst experience ever, it took me over an hour to kill one Krayt, I used to be able to do it in about 15 to 20 minutes. Commando totally sucks now, i mean my DOT missed ALOT. and forget being able to stack DOTs, cause after you get 1 to finally hit you can't tell if the others stick or not, and more than half the time they didn't. This is getting so ridiculas, we need our old flame DOT back, the one that did big damage in PVP. I mean with all the ways now to block the DOT, or use a fire blanket to put it out whats the problem with letting us become a viable option in PVP again. No one fears a commando anymore, and thats a crying shame. Garvin I think we need to push the issue more, let us be able to win some duels again, make people fear the commando, big back the DOT strength in PVP, and increase its duration.

Yeah i know al about that thread, as I was the first one to report the missing DOT, I was posting this thread to mention the DOT duration has gone way down also, to where the DOT only last for a couple of burns and then goes away.

I'll go test it out...I wouldn't jump to the conclusion we've been NERF'd...they were having issues with the patch on TC all day today...it could be a bug related to those issues...

Well it's funny this.. last week on Infinity I saw the same thing about tha DoT time (or more to the point amout of burns from a single DoT).. it happend hunting janta's.. now normally my FlameSingle2 would last for about 3 or mabe even 4 burns. But for two days the DoT seemed to last only 2 burns about 15 secs maybe... so i had to test it.. i took on 4 janta's runining doing Flamecone1 and if i got a hit i'd peace and watch (remeber not super NCP's then tho) and sure enough the DoT only burned 2 of the janta's for two burns (other two were not effected) so i hit two full ham with flamesingle 2 one died after one burn (initial health) but the other one again only burned twice (initial action)... i was getting worried but after the two days.. i was not seeing the problem.


This is got nothing to do with the DoT's not sticking 100% as they did.. this was two weeks ago.


But is that luck that it happened and now someone says it happened on TC (I don't play TC)

Tonight I went to Dathmir where I fought all comers...


I witnessed my DoT last over 4 ticks on a couple of critters...I never saw it expire because most of what I was fighting died before it expired...


So I have yet to see any proof that our DoT has been reduced in time...


Has anyone else tried our FT on TC to see if they notice anything...


Also, as an update...


On Saturday I reported that out of 17 shots, my DoT didn't stick 5 times, but stuck all 5 times on the 2nd shot...


After todays patch, I went out and tried my test again against the same type of target....out of 12 shots, my DoT didn't stick 1 time...So whatever fix Kel made seems to help...it may still feel likea NERF, but it's a NERF to all DoTs (including those we face in PvP)...It still sucks for us yes, but overall, it's actually, at least for me, hardly noticable...

and no mater how you put it we got nerfed!


when our FT and its dot is all we got and you reduce it no matter how little its still a NERF!!!!

I didn't have an opportunity to try PvP (not many friends want to get burned...lol)....Tonight I'll burn one of my Alt's and count how long the Burn lasts as well as how many Ticks it goes through...


If anyone else notices anything, please let me know...If there is an issue, I want to make sure it get's fixed before the next patch goes live...

I am sort of thinking out loud here, because I want to understand the new changes and how they affect me.


It seems that Kel's fix for us dealt primarily with "potency" of our flame. As I understand it, CM's poison or disease amount, duration, and ability to be resisted depend upon the potency of those poisons or disease items. I say "potency" also, because in the patch notes it states that they will still be subject to the 5% caps for fail or apply (even on theoretical "perfect potency").


The nerf on Commando, it seems, was that our original "potency" was too low, so we were actually experiencing the effect of the new formulas more than the caps alone.


Keldarin (sp?) fixed our potency? So I would have to assume that what was being experienced with low burn times should have been fixed with the new change? It makes sense to me that way.


If I am completely off base then please correct me.

That sucks about our DOT's but I think you answered your own question right there. I don't think anyone should be able to solo a Krayt.

Have you tried using it in a duel or pvp also? It just seems like it used to last alot longer than what it does now.

I was able to speak with Kel again regarding this recent Commando issue and he reported back:


Nothing should have changed that would impact this. I did touch the resistance / to hit chances for all DoTs (causing theprevious bug) but once the DoT successfully hits everything should be the same as before (time and damage-wise).


So if our DoT timer has been reduced is a /Bug and not a NERF...it should work just as before when it comes to the timer WHEN it connects...


I going to run some PvP tests tonight and time the Ticks...if I see anything I'll report it back to Kel...if anyone else on TC notices the Timer being less, make sure to /bug it...

Has anyone else tried our FT on TC to see if they notice anything...






Last night I actually was grinding on TC....I didnt notice much of a difference with DoT Duration....but every 12 or so specials I had like 1-4 DoTs not sticking (very rough estimate)


In fact...the DoT saved my wookiee hide a few times
