Well here's my story. NPCs usin specials didn't really bother me too much until a couple of days ago. I went to Kor Vella right? The place is bugged what with all the NPCs showing up as con green, the dark patches of brown or blue on some imperial uniforms, and not to mention some buildings at bases appearing all black (like those little camp buildings you get on missions). Besides all that I decided to go kill the rebel commandos that are always stuck in that one spot fighting STs put never moving, thus looking very stupid. So I go up to one hit him with flamesingle 2 do 7000 damage, so he's almost dead. He does 500 damage to my action pool. Just as I'm about to hit with my next flamesingle he hits my action again for another 500 damage thus incapping me in about ten seconds. Luckily he was still fighting with a ST on the other side of the building so I didn't die and the Flame Dot killed him. Still I think it's pretty bad somethin like this happened. maybe it was bad luck, but I don't know what to think anymore. Has this happened to any other Master Commandos out there?

Well not *exactly* like that, but I was outside Moenia one day looking at one of my harvesters when an Imperial squad consisting of one Dark Trooper and several Storm Commandos happens by.
Well, you know how mouthy and self-righteous these guys are, so a fight was inevitable. After all, I wanted to see how a Berserker Wookiee Commando fares against a Storm Commando.
Long story short, I disected the black-armored scout troopers (Storm Commando bah! *spit*) fairly quickly, and had the Dark Trooper on the ropes. I had hit him with a Heavy Particle Cannon shot and apparently what doesn't kill them makes them fight dirty. I was extremely healthy after dispatching his buddies, buthe produced a stun baton and proceeded to deathblow me in one special move.
My vengeance was swift and terrible, however. Chalk it up to luck for the oppressors the first time around.
But the point is that with this change, if you don't want to have a chance of getting owned by a blue con mob, you have to be buffed. Period. If you want to have a reasonable chance against white con mobs, you probably should also have your stun armor on.

Yea but I was unbuffed and this was one just one NPC that's normally con white, does this mean that con whites are gonna possibly incap me in 2 hits when it takes me longer to do practically the same to them? It's werid on missions though I can take down four blues with out one even getting a chance to fire on me. Sometimes it's the exact ooposite and they all gun me down by the time I've killed 2 of them.

Sorry to hear about how my fellow Commando's are fairing. As for me I haven't actually taken anything on in quite sometime, I.E Storm Troopers. I have been spending alot of time in the DWB lately, from what I have noticed the special's actually help, the special's help drain the NPC's HAM a bit and slow them down.....one thing that should also effect them is the equip delay(but dosent). This is assuming that Commando is your only Combat profession. One thing is for sure. Commando is the "redheaded stepchild" of SWG.

Sometimes, yes. Keep in mind that the con system is also a bit messed up. There are no subtleties in SWG combat. The standard is you either come away from a fight clearly the victor, or you don't come away at all. It is far more rare to have a "close one".
I am not saying that it is necessarily a good thing to die to a white con mob 50% of the time, but technically that is the very definition of white con.

I understans con whites are an even match, what I don't like is a TKM and rifleman can easily kill 2 on 1 alot. I know rifleman have conceal shot. Still con whites should beat you if you use auto attack, but using specials was to give you the head start. Like I say that one fight was probably bad luck and that the NPC hit me with overcharge shot twice and in the same pool was just bad luck.

well on a unrelated note....Stormtroopers seem to be less accurate now...
My BH friend with very little defenses noticed this as well
Anyways, with DarkTroopers..lol when they whip out the stun batons, just run around like crazy and kite em...they'll switch back to their guns
And for Specials...this is why I hate it when the Devs say "It'll create more strategy and a challenge for the players"...yeah but when a rebel commando that you should have NO PROBLEM killing, can incap your action pool in 2 hits...somethings wrong, as thats not strategy
Devs made gernades different as well as weapon delay different for the NPCs...why couldnt they have reduced their damage modifiers?
Hell on the corvette things do 4.5k+ dmg now ive heard from friends, they've been hit for 12k dmg from an NPC...
I can see strategy if we were given the tools to counter and such...but commandos dont get that...

Now I wonder If my group can comlete the corvette this weekend. Imagine what an SBD overcharge shot is like.(Crys) Do they really need SBDs now if this is true? I hate that the Corvette can now only be completed by the best fighters of the galaxy, or those who run around trying to do everything before they get killed. I thought the Corvette was challenge before, what is it gonna be like now. And yes it is screwed up that a con white NPC can incap me in 2 hits. I think this is why they removed it along time ago cause this stuff happened to much. I think they should limit the power of specials that NPCs have. I mean NS should have tons of force specials and stuff because otherwise they became to easy. The regular everyday NPCs however are getting just a bit too much power don't you think. Either that or fix it so NPC specials aren't so common cause everytime I fight an NPC they use a special. This was suppose to make combat more intrestin for the combat professions where fighting NPCs was too boring, but it's made it worse for commandos and other weak combat professions. I'm not whining I'm just saying that things seem a bit unfair when a rifleman or somethin spend less SP but are better then us in combat. I suppose I'll go get buffed to do missions now too seein as there is a good chance four blues can shoot me down before I can use flamesingle2 on all of them. The problem with the whole NPCs usin specials is it justs add more to the unbalancing things. The Devs had the hearts in the right places but didn't thing of the overall consequences. They should ask themselves wait this might be good for some of professions out there but what about the commandos? It would also be nice if they asked us about these things too. Another thing is why are the Devs just addin stuff, there a thousand bugs most of them real minor that have been around for months. When are these things gonna get fixed? Like getting scanned by STs makes you overt, the whole crackdown thing is full of bugs.

I can report a similar incident. My WS was at the Talus shop and I see an Aakuan camp nearby. The previous day, I soloed a similar camp with him. Except before they always went unarmed. This time they pulled out an array of melee weapons that left me dizzy, knocked down and dead. So I log in with my Commando. I did a fair amount of levelling at the Aakuan cave, so I figured no problem. I kill one of them before they send me to the cloner. I got my revenge the second time around, but I had to kite them like crazy and it was Flamecone1-Heal Damage over and over. And I almost got killed when I tried to slip another special in there. But I say, it's all to the good. I like being challenged and while it's a drag to get killed, it would be boring if it didn't happen once in a while

a lot of people ignores the intimidate attack.. if you use intimidate whatever you are fighting (thats a special attack all commandos has, as u get it at novice brawler) , then that mob will only do 33% of it original dmg
if you had used intimidate, he wouldnt be doing 500 dmg to you, he'd be doing something like 165 dmg :-).
