Thread: Should I become commando?

Currently I am a 3/4/4/3 fencer and2/2/2/2 chand I was wondering if I should go the commando tree. Im looking for something that is good in PvE, because that is where fencer lacks, but also something that will not falter in PvP. Is commando worth the long grind?

Also, I was wondering if this technique would work out. Say I mastered commando, what if I applied states, dizzy, blind, stun, then knocked them down. Would it be good to then pull out my FT and light him up?

Lastly, I would have to give up ch to complete this profession, so I only want to do it if commando is really worth it. (Im looking at PvE more than PvP, because I can handle it with fencer)

I honestly believe that Commando is a good PvE profession...not a great one...but definitely good...especially for the solo player who is looking for high powered specials...

The Fencer defense will help you compensate for our speed and accuracy issues...And Knockdown always goes well with our Flame Specials (except you have to deal with the 5 second weapon delay switch time...so hopefully they stay KD'd long enough)..

On TC I have build a fairly good template with Fencer 4040 / Pistoleer 0044 and Master Commando...It's a good PvP and PvE template. Very high defenses helps make the player hard to kill. Low Pistol Accuracy makes ranges specials have a higher chance of missing (but is better then no accuracy or no ranges specials). Basically this template is mainly to gain more Defensive abilitities rather then Offense.

Pros: Very High Defenses including Def Vs. KD and Dizzy. Ranged specials to compliment Melee Specials.

Cons: Lack of ability to self heal. Lack of Pistol Accuracy.

You could give up more of the Pistoleer (or drop it all together if you like) for to take more Fencer of course (for the state effects and such as you suggested)...but only do that if you are sure you would rather keep it primarily PvE...

Honestly PvP wise, commando is the wrong place to look. PvE commando's do pretty well, ignoring the fact that they can't do high end content due to 100% resists (like nightsisters and stuff.)

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the double post!

After hearing this I think Im going to stay m.fencer and work up the creature handler line. I heard that CH is also good for PvE.
