Thread: Which works better? Heavy acid beam or heavy acid rifle?

Trying to find out which does the most dmg sliced and using PU's.

Heavy Acid Stream is a disposable weapon, you get 29 shots with it, then it poofs. The Heavy Acid Rifle is a carbon copy of the Flamethrower with not DOT, higher HAM costs, and less damage.


Your solution: Use the Acid Stream as a compliment to the almighty Flamer, if you want. Though, Rocket Launchers and Heavy Particle Beam Cannons are used more often by people. But it's useless to even have a Heavy Acid Rifle if you have a Flamethrower.

Not if a mob is 80% resist to flame and 20% to acid

your FT dots will outdamage anything you do with the HAR. Even on a mob with 80 heat and 20 acid

I don't believe that either of these weapons can use power ups... I know for a fact that the Heavy Acid Rifle doesn't accept power ups.


And just to reiterate the previous posters... the Flame Thrower is the only weapon that you need to concern yourself with in the Heavy Weapon category, the Acid Rifle is a completely wasted skill tree in the opinion of most (or all) of the Commandos. One day this may change if they show some love to the Commando during the Combat Revamp, but for now, stick with your trusty flamer...

I did some testing a few months ago, and a FT on NS with med armor and 90something% heat kills them faster than a HAR on the same mob with (I don't remember how much, sorry) lower % to acid.

Wow, so i guess to beat a guy with a dxr-6 i need to be a master rifleman with a dxr-6.

I've said it before and I'll say it agian. the only way to outdamage a Speed Capped Rifleman is to be a speed capped rifleman with a better gun.


now that doesn't mean they're the best out there, if the krayts you're bothing attacking trying to outdamage each other for sees him and you let it attack him, he's dead. but so long as the rifleman can stay behind a tank there's nothing that will beat him, one on one that is.


(then again, I've seen a speed capped rifleman useing just a well sliced T21 outdamage 3 swordsmen for the acklay, I can only assume they were useing stock PHs.)
