Ok, I'm sure there are a dozen threads about storiesof hunting Krayts, but I'm bored and don't really want to go back to class.
Anyway, I started trying to get a group together for krayt hunting late in the afternoon yesterday, but as we were about to leave, my computer got so laggy it wasn't even funny, and I had to reboot, at which point the group fell apart. Anyway, we reformed about a half hour later, spent another half hour getting ready to go, and then left for the graveyard poi. About 300 meters from the poi, we ran into a krayt ancient. I got killed about as soon as I got off my bike, since I couldn't seem to find it on my screen (don't ask) and it came up behind me and killed me in about 2 seconds. Anyway, after subsequent rebuffing and running back to the place, I began to lay on the dots. Needless to say, they would stick for a maximum of 2 seconds, then disappear. A few minutes later, I died again. Another session with basically a repeat of unsticakble dots and death. Then things got interesting. Next round, I got killed on the field and rezzed by our doc, however, he couldn't take the time to buff me. This time, I, unbuffed, was able to survive for another 20 minutes until the doc buffed me again. Basically, I held back, using my auto-fire, then, when it was attacking someone on the opposite side of me, I ran up and fired a flamesingle on him, finally getting the DOT to stick. Eventually, as I said, I got buffed and was able to continually lay the dots on him, being careful to not become the next target for the dragon. Eventually, he started running, and we were able to finally kill him after an hour of shooting, flaming, and smacking him. Somone looted a pearl, and then we ran towards the poi. As we reached it, we ran into a giant canyon krayt, and started doing the same stuff we'd been doing on the ancient. Then another one spawned on top of us, and we started to loose people, including our rezzer. I had been killed and rezzed before then, but not buffed, so when I tryed to get a canyon krayt away from one of our members who was getting killed by it, I got subsequently eating in about 1.5 bites. Cloned, buffed, went back out. By then we had managed to get one of em away from us, however, the one we were attacking ran up towards it, knocked my down, and I ended up picking up the aggro of the other one and dying. Then I cloned, waited for buffs, headed out there, and by this point our group had started to fall apart. I managed to join one other member of our group who was fighting alongside another group who had a jedi.We quickly killed a canyon krayt, only to have an ancient krayt spawn directly on top of me and kill me. And then the group fell completely apart and we all left, and I logged.
And the moral of the story is: BRING DIZZY FOODS ON YOUR NEXT KRAYT HUNT! I mean, I musta got kd'ed 100 times over the 2 hour period. 'Twas annoying.
Anyway, I had fun, got about 145 xp, and no loot to show for it. Of course, I always get the raw end of the deal, so it's not like that's anything new to me.

I'd suggest thaktillo, since dizzy isn't too bad unless you are on the ground, lol. Most good chefs can get it to +100 vs. KD, so maybe take that and some synthsteak an' ur good to go....

I successfullysoloed a canyon krayt with about 350k ham, 60% Heat resist. Unfortunately, for some reason upon its death it just vanished and I was unable to loot it. I was completely alone and the only one doing damage so it wasn't a sniper loot stealer or anything. Really got me steamed at the time cause I had spent the better part of 30-40 minutes taking it down.
As a MCommando/4310 TK/0040 Pistol/2100 Medic, I gleamed a lot of my method from this forum.
I was fully buffed with brandy, synthsteak, and snowcake, wearing 90% composite armor, 48% PSG (not sure that helped any at all though), and a bandolier with +5 melee def/+11 def vs stun. I would first start bylaying on all 4 DOTS with my two flamers. One is a 2.6spd/928dmg and the other is 3.5spd/828dmg. I would then switch to TK, Intimidate and go to work. Sometimes I would quickly switchto pistols to lay on a bleed DOT but not often as it doesn't really tick that much damage. I would usually have to heal myself a couple of times after each switch to the flamethrower but my health never really got below2/3rds full. By the time I had the krayt's heath down to about 1/3, there was about 1/3 of wounds also. It's BF must have been high cause it started to go pretty quick at that point.
The melee and pistol defense (especially the def vs knockdown, +75) really helped keep me alive. Didn't get knocked down once. The fast flamers helped a lot in reducing the time I was vulnerable to damage while applying DOTs.
I don't think I could handle a giant canyon krayt with 450k ham and 70% resists.

i was using a 1180 dmg flamer, 3.4 a/s...i dont think 2 flamers change the burns but im not sure and canyon krayts dont knock down. Juvi's change posture but canyons just stun

Guess what, commando is the only proff that can take down an ancient without a jedi. Not solo bring a tank

I always have fun (besides being bummed about the XP reward)
Was on last nigh twith a few of the guild in town near the graveyard.
Not enough of us to take on the big ones but we had fun with the juvies and the canyon brands.
I have to chuckle about this-
I was busy blasting one when a big guy sneaked up behind me and croaked me.
I didn't see him coming.
BAd thing about this is the bog one ran around behind a house far enough away so he wouldn't aggoro ion us and stayed tjer.
After we finished off the one we were working on we had a discussio9n aout takingon the big gus. All the while we were watching his tail in case he decided to come back and feast on us.
We finialy settled on leaving him alone to enjoy the peaceful night.

I don't like the dizzy food. I usually try to find a Squad leader to take care of our dizzies (yah, I know they are tough to find by I know 1 or 2 I call on)
