Thread: *Puts on flame retardant suit* Here is my Im a newbie commando thread...

OK, I'll be honest first. I started the commando grind after making a Master TK/Ranger char and wanted to grind FS quickly using 'nades (I know I know, flame away).


Once I got novice commando though and was able to pickup a launcher pistol and flame thrower though, I don't think I'll ever go back to ranger on this char. This profession is fun as hell!


In the last two days, I've grinded thru Flame1 and 2 just shooting everything that moves outside of theed and Coronet in the "newbie spawn areas" and have been loving it! I've even dualed a few guild mates (and lost badly mind you) with my FT and even though I got my butt handed to me on a silver platter, it was still fun as hell looking at the huge explosions and napalm trails created by the FT.


So comes my question, I've been using the launcher pistol to "grind" my heavy weapons xp as its fast and does a good amount of damage (bought a nice damaged sliced gorax LP) and I've messed around a bit with the acid stream and rocket launcher and they seem clumsy and extreamly slow (obviously) but do they ever get useful at one point? I've been thinking that I might only go up the nade line to 4 and the FT line to 4 and use the rest of the points in my beloved scout prof for creature harvesting (fiancee is a BE/Chef so I'm her slave for harvesting creature resources). Is this a viable template to be able to utilize the FT and nades well or should I just master the commando profession?


What are your thoughts?


Current template I'm aiming for btw is Master TK (wont give it up, I love TK too much) Commando 4/0/4/0 and Scout 4/0/4/0 (I believe I have enough points for that, didnt double check the char builder).

Rockets get some what usefull due to the number of things with blast vunerability (turrets, AT-STs and NSs)


Yes you would have enuf SP for that template.


However with out the master commando slot you are loosing alot of Accuracy and Speed points, also missing out on the quad flames. Also flame cone 2 is just an awsome attack in and of itself


TKM/MC is one of the more popular templat because of its effectiveness, it also leaves you with 18 extra points that can go where ever you want. (I do smugler 1,0,1,0 reduced FP costs and FD )
