Thread: Possible PvP compromise?

Ok, a lot of peoples complaints about the new weapons (us and bh's) has been b/c of the 1 shot kills in pvp. I agree this tends to be very onesided but commandos also deserve a significant damage advantage. That being the case, perhaps have a max hit limiter in pvp? This would act on top of the current 75% dmg so that say the max HAM hit would be 75% of their ham. Given a health of 1000 the max would be a 750 dmg shot (if the shot were to max over 75% of ham). I think times would have to be changed slightly to make it more feasible b/c a 10-14 second delay just sitting there in a duel is enough time to make up for 750. Perhaps have max time of 5 seconds or so on that (only while dueling).

Anyway, there are just some thoughts on how to balance it out a bit in PvP, thoughts, suggestions, flames?

onehits should be possible

if you get hit naked by a flamer, you should have a 50% chance to be dead at once.

Reasons why this is not needed:

#1 The most effective one hit killers are charged weapons. These are slow AND cost prohibitive. The cost makes them basically financially suicidal to use in PVP consistently.

#2 The flame thrower, acid rifle, and LLC all require you to be within 15 meters to use the specials. base damage on these is no better then a laser rifle. If you get within 15 meters of a TKA Master expect the same results.

Compromise? What Compromise? What exactly do I get out of it? Oh I see... I get nothing, you just nerf my class and make my training useless. I'll pass.

Oh wait... maybe I'll agree to it when Master Weaponsmiths allow people with less training to make our weapons just as well and cheaper. Afterall, it is a GAME and one class shouldn't have to pay more than another class for their weapons because it wouldn't be EQUAL.

Sorry if I spilled sarcasm on your screen.

no offense, but none of that logic makes sense

if I shoot you with a laser in the chest you should die.... lol. hell, if a rancor comes and grabs you you should die too... none of that works in balance in a game though

I think that's a pretty good ideato look into!

But you're right, some of the delay with the weapon specials and attacks would have to be looked into as most highend weapons would do 750 damage in PvP (damage reduction inclusive).

I know the logic makes no sense but since when did any MMORPG logic make sense. No matter what a game tries to be,thegame mechanics are still apparent. I mean you can kill someone but can't loot their body? Come on now, I should be walking away with that flamethrower that you just tried to use on me.

HoTron, I'm not sure anyone claimed that the star wars galaxy was ever logical or made sense =P This game MUST take liberties for the sake of gameplay. The one most pertanent to this discussion being the limiting of damage during pvp fights. Why would I shoot less at a person than I would a creature/NPC.. concionse? If logic were reigning then all pvp would be pretty much 1 shot kills

What about including some kind of reaction to use of, or transporting these weapons.

Carrying an illegal gun? Security might take it away if caught while traveling. (Isn't there supposed to be some faction perk for bypassing customs?)

Using a rocket launcher in a city, lose townsfolk and local security faction. (People tend to get upset if you blow up their house)

Isn't the abuse of the power they have, one of the major reasons the Imperials are hated?
