The question of "Commando or Bounty Hunter" has been asked repeatedly, I know... however there's never really any viable information on those posts regarding what I'm after. They ALL talk about PVP...

I'm looking for a combination that PVEs well, I could care less about PVP power. I plan on remaining neutral.

As it stands right now, I'm a Bounty Hunter. I like the stuff that does BIG booms (like LLCs or FTs). I'm seeking to be able to travel the galaxy and never really worry all that much about getting decimated by the things that I encounter. In both my BH and Commando build ideas I've got a Graul Mauler standing in front of me, and I've got Novice Medic.

I've heard stories of Smuggler/Commandos being able to solo Krayts. Is that true? (Bleeding and FDing). That's the sort of accomplishments that I'd be after, not the "I was able to kill that guy in a duel" medals.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed!

First of all, how do you get 3200 CH with BH and Novice Medic? And for that matter, how are you going to do do it with commando? As far as I can tell, it cannot be done unless you are master of none. I suspect you are just talking about dabbling in commando. If that is the case, why don't you just dabble enough to get flamesingle1 and flamecone1, keep your LLC, and keep your graul mauler. Of course you would then be able to solo anything but the biggest mobs on every planet. If that is your play style then go for it. From a commando point of view, if you are dabbling, the difference in accuracy and speed on the flamethrower all the way up to flame 4 is huge. Even flame 3 sees a big jump in accuracy and speed at flame 4. I think that after using an LLC, you will find that a low flamethrower spec will not provide you the results you are expecting.

On the commando - smuggler note, FD does work on krayts, however you have to hope you don't die and most likely you will. As far as I understand from reading the smuggler board, FD requires you to be hit to activate, you get incapped, and if you stand up before you have regenerated enough health, you die. Normally not a problem on mobs that hit for 100 (after armor), but when a krayt hits you for 2000, that may become a problem. I suggest the smuggler board to look at their discussion on soloing krayts.

The claims of the bleeding then FDing are true. i've done it many times. In my opinion if you want to have damage in PVE then Commando has a better chance of being what you want. From what i've seen nothing really compairs to hunting with a PBC. You can one shot most animals from 48m and fire these shots at the 1 second cap.

The way you survive the /stand after you've been hit by a krayt is to have used a PBC to shot the krayt. This will let you fire from 48m. Then when it runs up to you fire one burning FT special and FD. You simply wait for it to walk back to the point that it started at 48m away and you should have time to get up and heal/escape a second hit.

Correct, both times I wasn't planning on being a Master of the class... Investigation just isn't worth the hassle, and I'd rather not level up useless tiers just to get the title of Master (as the Commando's Acid Rifle tree, etc...).

PBC = Particle Beam Cannon?

As it stands my build right now is:

Commando 0-0-4-0

Smuggler 0-0-4-0

Pistoleer 0-0-4-0 (For Defense benefits)

CH 2-2-0-0 (For the Graul Mauler)

Maulers are 3-2-0-0. Standard grauls are 2-2-0-0, but also have far less resistance (50% kinetic instead of 75% on the mauler).

As for skillpoint constraints, you have 67 leftover after getting all prerequisites for Commando and BH. Assume you want LLC to 4, Flamer to 4, that's 40 down, 27 left. CH to 3-2-0-0 costs precisely 27 points. Congratulations, it's possible. You want boomstick weaponry, though (Heavy Support Weapons tree), and you'll need to free at least another 12 SP to be effective.

As for soloing krayts, yeah,it's possible as a smuggler/commando. It's MORE possible, however, as a commando/CH/BH setup as above - get a Graul Mauler and you'll be able to tank the Krayt. Grab your flamethrower and pop it with Single 1/2 for the stacked burns, then flip to LLC and just blaze it with Single 2. You'll drop it pretty quick, unless your Graul goes down. Best option is to be packing some serious PetStimpacks and keep your graul above half health whenever possible, since it'll take you a second or two to disengage and start healing, plus there's a 15 second timer on PetStimpacks...

The problem with Commando/Smuggler soloing Krayts is the use of FD. When you feign, the hits that makes you "die" has magnified effect (you'll take significantly more than normal damage). Eventually, you'll have the pleasure of one of these shots being a wounding hit, which will deal you approx 400-700 wounds on one or more stats. Kinda cuts your trip short.

If i am not mistaken a wookiee (nevermind if thehe is not a wookiee) he/she can handler grual maulers at that level do to starting skill mods.

And btw i agree with whats being said here about PvE, the template ideas mentioned would work quite well i belive in PvE, but not as good in PvP.

That's an idea that I had, however it results in having to drop the Medic line entirely... which means no more StimBs. Are they that important? Granted, hopefully once "Enhancements" actually work, I won't need to worry about that... but I really like the template of the two big guns (LLC and FT) with a Graul Mauler tank . PetStims are easy enough to come by.

Yeah, I hadn't thought about skill attachments... once they work, just get a total of +5 Med Use and you can use Stim B's anyways.

Assuming they don't work, however, you don't officially need novice medic if you have a pet. The theory with a pet is that you'll never get shot.It will help if you're using an LLC, though. The Flamethrower may drain virtually no HAM, but the LLC takes a decent chunk off your action, if I'm not mistaken..

Hm... I think you might be right, butthe Wookiee skillmodis only +10 to Creature Taming.... IF this applies to both Taming Wild Creatures AND Taming Vicious Creatures, then yeah, you should be fine.

Devs have also stated that + medicine use is going out of the game, at least for BE tissues. I'd suspect that socket enhancements for + medicine use will also disappear (and older items not work.)

That sucks... Novice Medic seems to be the only "MUST HAVE" skill to take as if not, you really can't heal yourself. Does that mean you won't be able to use StimAs either? A good stimA does 150-200 doesn't it? (Healing I mean, not written on the Stim). For 15 SPs, it's kind of rough just to be able to heal yourself.

Too bad the alternative to having novice medic is pretty much death to most classes.
