Musket men and soldgers around the 1600 where known as Grenadiers. In fact at one pont Guns and Canons where called Grenades, and mines where called torpedos. Later the term shifted from the canons to the exploding shells that the canons fired. Soon anything known to explode was called a Grenade and terms like Musket, Canon, and Pistel where ues in itsplace. The name Grenadier express the tipe of soldger of that time, like we think of musket men and the Amercan Rev. All and all it is lingo that has past its time and side for giveing the flare and Romance of a Napoleonic times it has littel to do with Flamethowers. I can see why thay uesd the name but i think a new one needs to be found. as for Grenadeer or Grenadier there both Apt as much as tomato, tomatto. There both uesd and itrealy depends on who you are reading if its French writer it's called Grenadeerand German Grenadier. Enlgsh made dictionary tend to ues more German words then French becus German and Enlgsh are more similar (Lattin roots)

I always assumed the 'eer' was because the Devs were American? Shouldn't it be 'pistolier' aswell?

And yeah, definitely 'Grenadier', I should know, I've been using it as a handle in halflife for the last 4 years

You guys act like the flippin name is meant to be what it is. What the hell is a manufactureing ordenance manager?

WATCH OUT! ITS A MANUFACTUREING ORDENANCE MANAGER!

ITS AN ARTILLERYMAN!

wait.... this game doesnt have artillery...

and what the hell is an manufactureing ordenance manager?

Expert Commando is the only tittle that actually fits among the 4 tree tittles. There is absalutely no diffrence between the two spellings and theres absalutely no point for this post.

You guys keep reading the post written by the long winded guy you think is an idiot.

First of all our tree titles are left over from beta when the commando was supposed to be able to make his own consumables. That has gone to the weaponsmiths, but our manufacturing ordinance title still remains. Second of all, Americans spell Grenadier as, well.... Grenadier. Retards at SOE spell it Grenadeer. As far as where the name belongs.... probably not in our skill trees, however the poster above is correct in stating that often soldiers were called grenadiers up until WWI with some minor exceptions particularly for the British up until present time. In fact, many British infantry units can trace thier unit lineage to the grenadier title.

Yeah the titles are apparently left overs from beta.

On a side note did anyone else notice the resemblance to the layouts of all the professions, i.e3rd from left tree gives best attack for most professions at tier 4 (commando's fs2, bh's eyeshot, pistoleer's fan etc.)

I thought we settled all of this... We all use our least logical, worst spelled title.

Be proud your a Grenadeer... Revel in your Ordinance Manufacturing...

That way, we can convince people we're badly educated and make weapons...

Y'know... scare them into changing our titles.

The British Grenadiers are still an acknowledged regiment in our armed forces.
