Thread: Mitigation stack?
can anyone tell me how the different mitigations will stack if they do?
espicially for combo combat classes
example:
commando / rifleman
commando / tka
commando / fencer
commando / carbineer
does ranged and melle mits cancel each other out? if u have 2 melle pros does that mean you will be killed by a newb with a cdef? i dontunderstand how the system is to function with dualmelle or dual rangedpros, anyone help explain ?
TH has said that a new combat guide is coming soon to better explain all of this, but what I've gathered so far is the following:
1) Mitigation is not weapon specific...you don't need to be holding a ranged weapon to turn your Ranged Mitigation on...it's always on no matter what weapon you use.
2) If you have both Mitigations, no matter what levels, they are always on and don't cancel each other out. It almost feels like the Dev's are encouraging players to pick up a Ranged and Melee profession to balance their characters.
3) Mitigation does not stack...i.e. if you have Commando Master, which grants Level 3 Ranged Mitigation, then you just have Level 3 Mitigation...you DO NOT have Level 1 + Level 2 + Level 3...and on that note, if you have Master Commando (level 3 ranged mitigation) and Master Pistoleer (level 3 Mitigation) then you JUST have level 3 ranged mitigation...they don't combine to equal higher mitigation...BUT...if you have Master Commando & Master TKA (level 3 Melee Mitigation) then you will have both Ranged & Melee Mitigation Level 3.
Before you run out and pick up a Melee Profession to try and balance your character...remember, the 2.5x Melee Damage Multiplier has been reported to be going away...with that gone, Melee opponents will do a lot less damage to us...it's the ranged weapon damage we will still have to worry about mostly, and that will dealt with by Ranged Mitigation...having Melee Mitigation will be helpful, but at this point (until we actually see mitigation added to the normal servers) it may not even be an issue.
Hope this helps...this is what I've gathered from other posts and from following the different Dev posts...also from reading posts in the TC forum.
Thanks Garvin, that pretty much took care of all my questions about it
NP...just remember...all of what I posted is speculation...the Dev's are well known for telling us one thing, then taking it a completely different direction...lol...as we well know...
