I am very looking forward to going commando. I have seen that some skills in the commando tree are broken. Does this mean I cannot master Commando? Also I planned on theses skills.

Master Commando

Master Marksman (Given)

Unarmed 4 (Given)

Master Medic

Is this a good way to go?

Also Can a Master Commando Solo a Krayt with a Master CH?

Thanks you,

You can definitely go Master Commando...

When we say certain trees are broken, what we all mean is that the weapons, specials, or skills don't work properly if at all...also we feel that certain aspects are missing from certain trees that would make them useful to us as Commandos.

To give you an example...the HAR (Heavy Acid Rifle) tree is broken because the weapon specials don't work properly and in essence, the weapon itself is a weaker clone of the FT (Flame Thrower)...so for that reason a Commando rarely ever uses that gun in actual battle. Luckily all our XP comes in the form of Heavy Weapons and Combat, so what that means is you can use the same weapon (the LP or the FT) to gather all your XP needs...

Many of those who progress in Commando, if deciding not to go all the way to Master Commando, leave the HAR tree empty, so they can use the skill points somewhere else useful...In all honesty, the only reason currently to fill that tree is to get Commando Master, otherwise it's totally useless...

There are other broken aspects to our profession, but we, working through LordS (our correspondent) are trying to get them fixed and WILL one day see that achieved...

As for your template, Master Medic isok, but it depends on what you want your character to be/do...do you want a powerhouse tank character? If so, go down to novice medic (use good stim b's) and use the extra pts in a ranged profession or melee profession...BUT, if you want to actually have some Doctor skills so you can buff your character, don't get the HAR tree and maybe some of the Field Tactics...put those pts towards Doctor...

Just some thoughts....

As a commando you can solo anything that you can live long enough to see burn to death

Droideka's seem to resist the flame dot.... other than that the flame dot can kill anything.... thus if you can in some ways live long enough to see the flame dot do it's thing, then you can solo anything......

Currently as a commando you will take 2.5x the melee dmg when equipped with a flamethrower. A pure commando is at an extreme disadvantage on the higher end of the creature scale, as most creatures can pound a commando into the ground very quickly.

The flamethrower is a powrefull weapon.... the DOT effect can kill anything..... But most pure commando's wouldn't survive the resulting aggro long enough to see whatever they dotted die..... This is why for instance commando's with a flamethrower and a graul were terribly popular. Because the graul mauler defends the commando against his biggest weakness melee dmg, allowing the commando to use what is quite possibly the most powerfull weapon in the game.

As a TKA, you can essentially be your own pet.. And at master with a set of composite on.... you can be a DAMNED GOOD pet at that. The problem with TKA's however is that although they make great tanks, if they are pure TKA they will have to spend alot of HAM in order to kill whatever they are faced with. TKA does great dmg but only at great cost to they're HAM.

Where as commando do great dmg but only at a cost to they're lives

Now combine both these worlds......

It goes like this.... land a flamedot on whatever you want to kill, or a flamecone if there are many of them. When they close into go melee on you, unequip the flamethrower use the TKA cob, and just take a beating from them while they burn to death. Then beyond that, use knockdown+dizzy to get them on the ground, quickly re-equip the flamethrower fire off a flamesingle or whatever, and then quickly unequip and continue taking blows. Rinse and repeat.

Basically your using primarily your commando abilities to do dmg, and your TKA toughness abilities to act as a tank.

At this point I am already soloing kimos with confidence.... I doubt a krayt would be much harder. Based on it's resists it ought to be easier

However things like Droideka's are a nightmare to me..... they like to run from me, they don't take a flame DOT consistently. And since they never melee TKA does me no good...Anything beyond 16m's I'm at a great disadvantage against.

Within 16m's it dies.

I hope this helps.

So to recap... I'm sure you've seen the guys with flamethrowers and 1 to 2 graul maulers.

I'm not terribly different, except I"m acting as my own "Graul Mauler".

TKA cob doesn't work.
As for watching your enemy die.... Feign death anyone?
Just 300,000 pistols xp beyond what you're required to get for Commando.
