Thread: Should I go to master?

Well, should I master commando? I've got the flame tree, and I'd like to be master, but it seems to be a total waste. I've read about grenades, they seem to be ok. But how about the heavy weapons support line? Is any of that stuff any good? I know the Acid Rifle line sucks.

Heavy Weapons are situational for sure but they're still nice. Acid of course is broken but most of us hold out hope as we see some good potential there later. The grenades aren't really all that handy aside from being eye candy. Master level... you get +25 ranged and melee defense which is real nice (up from +5's for a total of 30), and you get flame and acid cone2. Acid we know is borked but flamecone2.. Very nice. This in itself is almsot worth it as you can do some huge damage to multiple attackers.

Ranged Mitigation 3 will be a Master Commando skill, also.

Master it, just to master it, but just know there isn't really anything too terribly compelling beyond the flame line to go master.

Grenades can be somewhat usefull in pvp.... heavy support is good for taking out turrets (mostly).....acid is entirely worthless....

What beefs up Launcher Pistol in Commando? Are launcher pistols good to use?

If you patient and willing to wait for dreams of what may come, go Master...right now it's good...if we get all we want, it will be great (which means we get fixes to our trees and other weapons)...I also like walking around town with my title on...lol

If you are not patient enough to wait for fixes, then maybe Master is not for you (the extra Melee and Ranged Defenses are nice as well though).

As for the LP...it works with normal pistol power-ups...I like mine...not as fast as my Pre-Patch FWG5s, but still good and nice if you have any Pistoleer or Smuggler specials...Hopefully one day we'll have specials of our own to make this weapon even better.

The accuracy and defense bonuses are nice, though I generally fight creatures that kick my ass regardless of what mods I have. Flamecone2 is killer (in PvE at least). If you're one of those (few) people who have the extra skill points, why not? Hell, it might be a holocron profession (if chasing the FS slot is your thing). And you'll be more than Just Another Grenadier.

Once I got Flame Spec 4, the rest of the profession went by quick.

Hah, just had a beautiful example of why to go master last night. A friend wanted to do The Warrens but wasn't much of a fighter so he hired me out at 100k to come clear it out for him. Early on he realized he wasn't going to be able to fight at all so he just hung back in the previous room until I cleared it. At one point though while he was still fighting, there were 2 or 3 animals hitting on me while i pounded back and i saw a large group behind me all hitting each other. I finished off those that had me aggroed and told my bud to watch this. I walked over and targeted an NPC in the middle. I launched flamecone2 and saw my combat spam turn all green and every one of them turned to aggro me. After I finished them up I went back to add up the total on that hit. Ended up being 8 enemies (NPC and creature) that I hiti w/ that for a total of thirty five thousand damage (35,000) in that one shot. I was lovin it at that point =P

BTW, those who haven't done the warrens yet should, very fun. Especially killing the modified AT-ST which most of us imps don't get to do (just so ya know, that particula AT-ST doesn't allow the fire DOT to stick so go all launcher pistol).

If you're looking to do loads of damange and impress the ladies with all your big weapons, then definitely go Master. Truthfully, I went master because it is the most appealing profession to me. Commandos have the most diverse line of weapons (although some don't work as well as others).

In every situation, we have a weapon that can hit an NPC where it counts.

The other night my guild went out to hunt Rancors. Turns out that Rancors have 100% resistance to heat, thus making them fire-proof. Although you can set them on fire, you get zero xp when they die. I was able to make myself useful against them by using my Acid Rifle (yes, I used it), Acid Beam Cannon, and glop grenades.

I enjoy having all the different types of weapons and determining which one I should use in each situation.

I'm with you captain, I used to keep every gun on hand to have max potential to hit the HAM bar I needed to w/ the weapon that had the best effect. Now I just keep the different damage types on hand b/c I was walking around w/ a full inventory at all times.
