Hello Commandos!
It is with deep regrets that I post one of my final messages on these boards to tell everyone goodbye.
This is not an easy one for me...
I have had a LOT of fun playing with my incredible guildmates (originally REAL, reorganized into the North West Highlanders), interacting with the various communities on these message boards (especially the commando and DE ones), and battling with all of you Naritusians (IMHO the coolest server community hands down). I have had a great time playing with you guys, and I will miss you all dearly.
Commando was my first love in the game... In fact, I bought the game after reading about commando (then a "warrior that made his own munitions") on the SWG website just before it came out. It has served me well, and I know it will soon be returned to the glory that it deserves.
I play(ed) this game because it was a fun, cool way to wind down at the end of the day. I played this game almost every night because of all of you. I was active in the boards because I enjoyed interacting with each of you, and felt like the developers were giving me an opportunity to curb my play experience. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY thank each and every one of you for helping me to have a great time. I have really enjoyed it.
I know many of you will ask why, and that is something that is hard to explain. I have always tried to be optimistic about the game...after all, it is Star Wars (kinda). I have posted very frequently on these boards, with that hope that someone would listen and care.
Primarily, frustration has finally gotten the best of me. The final straw was explained in detail here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=595757#M595757
After I allowed this message to sit (unanswered) for a month, I have given up. In short, almost every time I have set and marched toward a goal in the game, the developers have "fixed" something that has significantly broken that goal and my advancement toward it. I have also been frustrated with the "throw stuff at them that is 50% broken continually so that we don't have to fix anything" attitude. I have never really liked first person shooters, and so implementing JTL was a total wrong move from my standpoint. I can honestly that my play experience has gotten over 100% worse from the first day I played. Since it won't be fixed anytime soon, I have no reason to sit around and wait. I have been promising this for some time, and I refuse to reward the developers for ignoring my concerns by continuing to pay for SWG.
Always the optimist, I will tell all of you that I think the combat balance has a lot of good things in store for all of you. As many of you know, I was slated to help test the combat balance in the "sandbox." I'm sorry that I will not be there to share it with you guys... The developers made a REALLY (REALLY) smart decision hiring Tiggs, and she has been doing a great job. However, after screaming for over 6 months about issues that are near and dear to my heart, only to be ignored and cursorily dismissed by the developers (especially by TH, who rarely even tries to understand the issue before he posts unless it is some gibberish about "FIRST," taco bell, or pizza), I have pretty much come to the conclusion that it is too late, and not worth any more of my time, to me to continue to try to enjoy the game. There are too many issues in the game that are very personal to me, that have no chance of being reversed/fixed anytime soon.
An additional, small, part of my leaving has do to work. If you didn't know already, I am a corporate defense attorney, and I am constantly "ass deep in alligators," as my friends are fond of saying (Hence the rushed tempo many of my posts have taken...I have to fire them off because I usually have little time to post). Lately I have been involved in a HUGE nationwide litigation that is commanding a lot of my attention and concentration).
Hence, it has become time for me to take my leave. Thank you all! I will never forget you, and will see you someday in that great battlefield in the sky!

Thank you Garvin...
I thank you for being a great ranting buddy, and the golden rule of everything a correspondent should be.
I KNOW that commando will be fixed, primarily because of you.

No, thank you for having been a part of our little community. You've been an asset around here, a strong voice. No one can take that from you. None would dare.
Despite your icon identifying you as a Rebel, I wish you the best nonetheless. Who knows; perhaps some day you'll return, or perhaps you and the rest of us will find ourselves hooked on another game.
/salute
Hope we see you again, amigo, hope we see you again.

The Commando community will miss such a well spoken and well informed member. It is quite evident in your posts that you do love the game, and by reading your posts I have also come to realize that I feel the same way as you. I am willing to wait a bit longer, the game is becomming more and more dis-enchanting for myself and alot of other's that I know. Thank you for everything and good luck.

Take care
I read your full post and upto the first page, your are absolutely right. Oh and Romac seriously needs to learn what it is like to get a max of +45 Speed, I have a feeling that theres so many MRiflemen FOTM ppl with +90 speed who just dont understand. With the same speed weapon shooting specials off at the same delay we would shoot 5.5 times slower than them
If they werent speed capped. And we can't even use tapes to change this. +12 FS speed is sweet, would bring speed upto +57. then they would only shoot about 4 times faster
Good luck mate.
Hope that you come back and SOE fix things for ya.

Yikes...the devs really created a spiked pit of death with the FS stuff, and unfortunately you fell into it
Now, stronger than ever...Stern will NEVER become a jedi...
You will be missed daker...and its frustrating to know because of a stupid dev foul up, we're loosing a great commando poster on this community.

May the blessings of the commando remain with you, always.
