how do you level up in exploration? do you get xp by going up hills?

you use scout experience

this is obtained by harvesting bone,hide, or meat of animals you kill

after you kill one hold left button down till radial menu appears. hold it until harvet pops up the pick which you want to harvest. you will get x amount of item and some scout exp. when you get enough scout exp get trained in exploration

You also get scouting xp by having your scent mask succeed against aggressive animals, i.e., you get close to them, the game checks to see if they detect you, and they don't. The /maskscent ability is given at Exploration II, although it really won't start to succeed a lot until Exp III and Exp IV, when your camouflage skillmod is higher.

Does anyone know what the fastest way to get xp in exploration, before you get masked scent, is? I have been running around high mountins but arnt getting jack *pip* xp.

Any tips on this would be good.

You get scout xp by harvesting animals that you kill. I'm sure it is mentioned in the manual that came with the game.

you just gotta go through the grind, but if you sell all the hides or whatever you harvest by the time you get maskscent, you should have plenty of money. dont get hunting before you've got explore 3 though.

Once i got explore 3, i went to lok, made a waypoint to the volcano and in 2 hrs i had maxxed out the hunting tree and also got explore 4. Just make sure you put all your stuff in the bank first and clone on lok.

Okay, I've been wondering about something. Can anyone survive in a combat proffesion without the exploration tree from scout? I started a new character on a different server, and man he is a SLUG. He cannot go anywhere outside the city, everything can catch and kill/roast him for dinner. The only combat profession that scouting is REQUIRED for is bounty hunter (creature handlers and rangers are separate issues lol). But how many other combat classes can live without it? Anyone out there who's a commando without exploration? (or any combat profession?) If you don't have it...all you can really hope to do is stay in the cities and kill gaurds/do PvP or just hope nothing tries to chase you lol Just wondering because a BH friend of mine was complaining about how incredibly haaard it is to have to master marksman AND scouting....and alllll those skill points lost....(a littler sarcastic hehe) But they get exploration in their prereqs, sooo they don't have to spend that extra 29 skill points to get scout+expl4 like commandos, and pistoleers, and riflemen ext.....Anyways...just wondering, anyone out there that can live w/o exploration???
