Thread: To Garvin and the Sandboxers, with love...

Gentlemen -
As I understand it, Alphahas started. Whetherthis means youare actually logged in a controlledenvironment, or merely going over the docs, I dont know.
I know you guys have our best interests at heart. The plight of one commando can easily be summed up for all commandos, of course, with varying opinions on weapons. But this is neither here nor there.
I beg you....
- Be firm in your (our) visions of where Commando should be. If a Fencer says what his idea of Commando should be, first listen (just incase they might have a valid point), then lay the proverbial flame / rocket / other down and tell him (or her) to mind their own profession...
- Do not partake in TH'ish type testing (one MC buffed, the other not buffed and duel)
- Push for the absolute limits as to what Commando can and cannot do
- Don't concentrate solely on PvP. Please test against high level mobs (i.e. Nightsisters...Krayts...Or in the Commando's current state, Meatlumps and durnis)
- Fight tooth and nail for what you want
- And more importantly, have fun
I wish I could add more, and maybe later I will...Unfortunately, a little thing called "work" is interupting my SWG forum browsing. I just wanted to give you the proverbial peptalk and wish you guys luck.
Make us proud.
We haven't actually stepped into the Sandbox yet...just pouring over the docs and gathering feedback...The Devs and Programmers are doing a great job (just like they did in JTL) or responding to many of the questions or concerns that have come up...
To be honest, I've had a game plan for our Sandbox testing since a I first heard about it several months back...
During Alpha:
- 1 of our testers will focus specifically on weapons and specials getting a feel for their level and how they compare DPS'wise (RazerWolf)...
- The other 4of our testers will be assigned a specific list of templates to try, figuring out their strength's and weaknesses in both PvE and PvP, and preparing for the day they can report the information back...We'll work in conjunction with other players on the Sandbox to test cross profession combat tests.
- I will mainly focus on the different levels of the Commando Profession from Novice to Master (and everything inbetween)...
If there is enough time before Beta opens, we'll move into a more focused PvP/PvE free for allmenalityand come up with the best Commando Templates for specific situations/game play styles...
We will all take our finding and use them to offer feedback to the devs on what needs to be better balanced...We'll be focusing on finding where our holes still exist, looking for solutions, and if one isn't available, getting the devs to provide them...
I have been reviewing the posts of our Sandbox testers in the CU forums since they got in and ALL of them are being VERY active...they are representing you well and they do you all proud....

The cool thing is we shouldn't have to fight too hard to get what we need...the Devs have made it very clear to me that they hear what we've been saying and most of our requests are not unreasonable....We do need more defenses...We do need to be able to compete better DPS'wise...We do need meaning to come from our Pre-Reqs...etc...a lot of that is reflected in our changes coming...
