I've done it all, nothing left for me. My account runs out tomorrow.
It was fun, but the game just kept running out of content. I found myself not wanting to play for periods of up to three weeks at a time, waiting for new content and the promised combat revamp. We were promised that revamp 13 months ago.
Instead of leaving with a rant about how the game could be better, I shall leave you with a story. My story.
The story of how I started the game:
August 14th I installed and started up, knowing that several of my friends from a pre-SWG forumwere on Chilastra.
Kessa- Human Female, dancer
Dareil- Trandoshan Male
Riban- Wookie Male
Qwolahn- Wookie Male
Aquilla- Zabrak Male
So I get started, and Qwolahn teaches me how the game works, as well as showing me lots of stuff. At the start, I was in shock at how large the game was. However, I expected the map to be more cluttered, like Morrowind. Huge letdown a month later when I got to exploring alot, and found so little. I rememberQwolahn's house was like 2km outside of Eisley, my starting town. We went there the first day, and he showed me around the little graveyard that was behind it (yes, next to one of those rare graveyards). The rest of the landscape was empty of homes, and was unoccupied except by new and exciting creatures.
Soon after I met up with Kessa, Dareil, and Qwolahn to go hunting. All of us were low-level combat players, and group hunting at that level, when every creature you find is new, was a blast. I enjoyed almost all of it, although the combat system was a letdown.
From then on, thesix of us spent around 70% of our online time together for at least a month, leveling slowly. Kessa had a 'job' at some "Cantina" near Coronet (this was back in August, it was fairly popular spot I believe), where she got lots of money from tips. Thesix of us had a blast together. Kessa eventually joined a guild on Naboo, but lost her house to maintenance she forgot to keep paying.
Around that point she quit the game for a while, to come back on another server. Then Qwolahn got banned by his parents from SWG until around December (no idea why), and left the group. I hung out with Dareil and Aquilla, ocasionally seeing Riban. But then Riban quit the server, and Dareil quit the game. I stuck with Aquilla until around October, when he too quit the game.
He was the reason I met up with and joined the GTC with Revolver, Burningspear, and Daylen.
Looking back on that first month, i realize how much fun the game was. Every dungeon was new, most creatures were new, even common loot was still rare for me back then, and the maps looked huge and unexplored. On day fourof my playing I wandered around Tatooine, stumbling across the Squill Cave, where I met another good friend of mine that I still play with today (Tratos). Our meeting was a freak accident, he happened to be there only because of that rare bug that teleports you to the middle of Tatooine.
Now, over 13 months from then, I still look back and wish the game had never changed. I've played with an excellent group in IDI (Interplanetary Defense Initiative, also called IDIot by me), such as Daylen, Tratos, Stern, Eclair, Dlek, Fabeon, Ettikin, Abot, andInfinite. We have lost many good players over the months of the guild. Motokan, Madias, Weci, Tola, Oestrol, and Littlefauss, to name a few. Some quit the game, others left to EQ2 and WoW, and a small few just disappeared. I enjoyed my time with the guild and hope I come across them again one of these years.
But most of all, I'd have to say the funnest part of the game when I began was the companionship with that small group of friends. They are all gone now (2-3 play on other servers, and 2 quit), but the time I was with them was a blast. I still have some food that Kessa made back when we celebrated her birthday at the Theed waterfall, and still wearthe novice scout shirt I began the game with.
The game has had its ups and downs, but by far the best days of this game were the first few months. Back then we needed to stick together to kill creatures. I remember sacrificing myself to save Kessa when some NPCs "ambushed" our group in the rolling desert of Tatooine.
A few weeks back I was wandering Tatooine when I stumbled across the location of Qwolahn's old house, long gone. The valley was still deserted and it was easy to locate the small graveyard that had once marked his backyard. Like so many others I have known, he is long gone from the game.
Farewell,

I was an asset? I just tried to get ppl riled up against the devs for all the (so far) empty promises we've gotten. And I must admit, it was fun

Passion is always an asset...Before I was a Correspondent I flamed the Devs pretty hard and pretty often in the public forums...now I just do it more in private where it's easier for them to find...

Always sad to see another commando go, but I can definitely see where you're coming from.
For the past month, I've only logged on to check my mail, maybe talk on guild chat for a few minuts, and then I bail.
/salute Evelas
Hope to see you around there parts again someday, maybe after the revamp, or in another game at least.
Andregardless ofwhere else you may go online, keep the commando spirit burning. You're one of us, no matter what.
Give 'em all hell.

Another casualty to the everything will be solved in...... CURB but unfortunately I don't believe we will ever see it. Good luck to you man. If I hadn't had so much invested in this game I'd be right with ya, but my friends are keeping me here. Now its just a matter of when will they leave or when will they no longer be enough to keep me here. CURB was a wonderful dream but with all dreams you eventually wake up.
