Thread: Help this (kind of) new commando

The post-combat upgrade world is strange and frightening to me. Made commando 0/4/4/0 before the CU. Didn't play for a while, but now I'm back and totally lost. Here are my questions.
1. I have all these killer flame throwers and can't use them. They all require combat level 54 and MASTER Commando. Is there such a thing in existence as a flame thrower I can use without already being Master? Seems to defeat the purpose.
2. Ready to start grinding grenades. Any general advice?
3. Almost forgot -- what weapons give Heavy Weapons XP? (Aside from the flame throwers that are sitting around my house going unused...)
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know I sound like an uber-noobzorzrzr or whatever the kids call them, but I was out of the loop just long enough that the CU has turned me upside down.

As a new Commando, my best answer is also the simplest.
As a Novice Commando, you're certified for the Launcher Pistol. Be careful though, since it has a cone attack. You don't need to aggro everything onto yourself and / or your group.
You are also certified for the Corellian Destroyer, which usually can be had anywhere between 7k-15k credits. It has a 6m blast radius, so be careful where you aim at.
Once you have your new Novice Commando weapon, get into a group and get to work! Just be mindful of what you attack and the area. Again you don't need to aggro everything. It can quickly p*ss off the group and get you kicked out.
One trick I have used when grinding in a group as a Commando is to stand 30-40m behind the group. the group will attract attention and get MOBs to rush them. You can safely stand back at 30-40m and use your AOE weapons' cones/blast radius with little worry about aggroing the whole countryside... since they're already aggroed to the group.
When I re-picked up Novice Commando, I just bought a Corellian Destroyer, and kept it until Master Commando.
