Thread: Can we all agree
Another thing that helps is that we have hope.
If you honestly want to see a forum that has some real problems, go check out the FS forum. There is some real whining and bit*hing going on. 'Nuff said.
Almost every new idea that has cropped up on these forums has in some way or form been on a wishlist, revamp thread, petition, or general brainstorming. So many great ideas and such a powerhouse that seems to have generally gone to waste (instead we got a Rocket Launcher that is pathetically weak...and AoE rather than big explosions that rock the planet). We *all* start sounding like a broken record at times...
However more than ever, we can't degenerate into something like those other forums we all know and love. We can be mad and very angry, and possibly throw stuff (namely large and heavy objects if you got 'em)...but we're still a community, that despite the crap that has been told to us or given to us for the last two years, we're still in it together.

Commando has had it's share. There have been ideas to emphasize the SWG Dev's vision of Commando as the "Heavy Weapons Specialist." There have been ideas to make SWG's Commandos be more alike to real life commandos / special forces. Heck, there was even an idea here for Commandos & Squad Leaders to form up weapons teams to crew an E-Web. The E-Web is the crew served weapon you see the Snowtroopers try to set up in ESB, before the M.Falcon shot them up!
Another place that is truly a hotbed is the Galactic Civil War Forum. But despite the asbestos lined walls, soot & ash of that specific forum, there have been MANY great ideas. Some good enough that the Rebel & Imperial players could all agree. Ideas to enhance the feel and look of the GCW and still be faithful to the movies. Ideas to get players to come back to active "Overt" participation in the GCW. Ideas to bring the "Star Wars" back into SWG's GCW. I vividly recall a stickied, well read and repied to thread in the GCW Forum called "100 Ways To Improve The GCW" which was started by the original Kade_Deveron. That thread was deleted after 89+ pages of inputs and refinements.
There was even a SWG Correspondent Summit, if you remember, back in Summer 2004. The 2 Correspondents that I was most anxious to hear news from were: J3STER (GCW) and Garvin (Commando; before StarNick).
Alot of information had been gathered by Correspondents. Various posters here (including myself) have bothered to put up extensive posts / suggestions.
You simply can't say the community hasn't done anything to give ideas or input for the devs, even if you discount the flamewars & b***h sessions. The community has given enough, not even counting the time and subscription costs of SWG.

Well, there are a lot of things that come into play. The most important thing is steps-to-reproduce. Once an issue is reproducible, then it gets prioritized by severity and the amount of people it affects. Complexity also comes into play. Some issues which may seem simple can be tied into many different systems, which may cause a fix to take a bit longer.
That post was about bug fixes. One could consider our problems to be bugs or to be design errors, it's all in the eye of the beholder. But the fact that priorities to assigning resources to addressing any issues based on the amount of people it affects means that Commando just won't warrant meaningful attention. There aren't enough of us out there to make a priority out of fixing AOE, grenades, weapons, states, timers, specials, damage output, a reason for having unarmed as a pre-req, and the list could go on and on. And on.
That's the business reality of the situation. SOE will deploy it's resources in the areas that have maximum payback/impact. And Commando doesn't rate by that level of attention.
I've been reading a lot of back emails, and that one caught my eye and really tied in with StarNicks comments on having posted a lot of very meaningful, useful and constructive comments that have resulted in not even the politest of replies or reponses.
Just a vent at the state of a fine profession that isn't what it could be.

I believe that the reason that Commando is a "no" priority (not high, not low, that's right "no") priority is sort of evident in this post by TH:

Then we're screwed.
We're not BHs.
We're not Carbineers or Riflemen.
We're definitely not in the same galaxy as Jedi.
