Thread: Purpose of the XP Nerf?

On the various forums I usually browse and post in (Commando, GCW, Rifleman, Carbineer, JTL), I haven't read much negative comment on the rate of XP gain before Publish 22.

Now, I have read the extremely rare comment that there's too much XPs.

But again, no one was really complaining, at least among the Normal Professions.

So what is the reason? Have they mentioned this "fix" to the Correspondents?

Are we gaining Mastery too fast?

Is this due to the Jedi problem?

This is one of those tweaks that's equivalent to a lightning strike on a clear, sunny day.

Well, with the way it was, it was really easy to grind professions super fast. I mean, get in a good group and the xp flows. Just tab through and hit each target that your tank has aggroed with a low dmg weapon and you get full xp. For those of us that know what we are doing, we could probably get lvl80 in under a week. (I am probably off and it changes depending on who is doing it and all.)

But, from a commando standpoint, xp was coming WAY fast in those good groups.

Okay, but what was exactly wrong with getting a profession fast?

If you can get a profession super fast just by grinding, yu might miss some other points of the game that you would get when you do it slower. Just my look on things.

Like how annoying it is to grind with FS'ers and Jedi?

Oh god! I was just in a group like that. "Why aren't you helping us?!" "Um, I have a flamer....it does AoE no matter what." "YOU MUST HELP US!!!" *fires flamer and chunks a grenade just so he can clone and get away as fast as possible*

What exactly would you miss by getting your profession fast?

When you get Master even with a fast grind, you're not truly a Master until the player learns the full nuances of that profession. How different is that from a slow grind?

Mind you, XPs mean nothing for me now. My template is set and I'm not switching. I also have access to the Village but have no wish to taint myself with the Schwartz.

This is one of those "W-T-F?" moments when you read the Patch Notes.

Not as annoying as seeing someone run up to a lair, surrounded by MOBs, and tossing a grenade, and getting incapped.

That was annoying to see, and it gave an even worse impression of Commando.

Glad that exchange rate was Nerfed!

dude... its like were twins or something... That is EXACTLY what i think. What is the point of fightingendless mobs? When the only reason you play is to master than pvp? right? So i love the quick grind, and i also agree with the village, i have access, "but have no wish to taint myself with the Schwartz".

Slowing the rate people gain exp isn't going to do anything other than force people to grind in hopes of covering up the horrendous lack of content. I can't see why else they would do it. If too many people are getting jedi and that's the reason they should just up the conversion rates again and be done with it. Leveling to 80 in a week is fine. Maxing out that fast happens in WoW all the time, so it's not like its unheard of.

Grinding should be the least of you worries, and now we're back to square one with everyone trying to scam as much money as possible off solo missions again - except now some classes will even have trouble with that.

My take on this: The casual gamer gets shafted yet again in favor of the grinding machines.

More pointlessgrinding required = Bad
