Thread: What do yall like more
I mean, nothing screams awesomeness quite like the sound of a flamethrower.
In previous Star Wars games, most notably the Jedi Knight and KOTOR series, the click & hiss of the Lightsaber was thrilling. In SWG, hearing that sound effect makes me hold back my puke.
Awesome implementation devs, especially considering that Jedi in this game were once highly revered.

The PFT doesn't 'click and hiss'. The PFT clicks and ROARS!
Nitpick: The sound of a lightsaber is more accuratly referred to as a 'snap-hiss'.
I find both underwhelming to be honest. There's just nothing out there that tops the good 'ol stouker concussion rifle (as featured in the Dark Forces games)...

For me, nothing compares to the *chick - fwooooooosh* of a flamethrower (that's how i've always described it, dunno why).
But you notice that the reaction differs drastically depending on what end of that flamethrower that you're on...
If you're the one dishing it out, then the sound represents a moment of suspense. That brief moment where you hear the initial *chick* and you're watching to see who got nailed by it. Pre-CU was definately more dramatic for me, because getting nailed by a flamesingle2 or flamecone2 back then was pretty painful.
If you're NOT the one with the flamethrower, then hearing that thing go off in mass PvP represents a moment of panic.
"Who's burning? Did I get hit? Someone get the commando! Arrrgh... where is he!?"
I personally love the sheer roar and power of the FT, and the slick whistle of the Proton Rifle equally.
And considering how many Master commandos are out there, the "click-hiss" of the PFT is more like a real LS than any ingame LS'
We need an Advanced Rocket Launcher that uses that animation. Sweeeeet...
